  • Too much Utah State?

I have been biting my tongue for a while, and I don't mean to say anything inflammatory to our friends from Utah but.. I think we have had enough links to your picture libraries, newspaper clippings, TV schedules, mascots, abnormal fans, and social networks to last us a lifetime.

I know you are proud of your little program up there in Utah and you should be, but your obsessive involvement on our forum screams a need for acceptance. I don't mean to sound harsh, and I take your intense desire for interaction with us as a compliment, but four Utah threads on the first page is a bit much.

I know this is going to sound bad, but this was a Bracketbuster game, nothing more, nothing less. Most on here don't even want to be involved with Bracketbusters. Most consider it demeaning. We wish we would have won; we thought we could have won - given the athletic disparity - even with a slumping, injured, team. But we have bigger fish to fry now in St. Louis and thank you greatly for stopping by and sharing your stories with us. Now you guys need to get back to focusing on your own conference and winning your conference tourney so you can get to the Big Dance and make some noise! :)

    - given the athletic disparity -
Why is this thrown out so often when the Shockers lose.

    Athletic disparity?

I tell you I would rather have a few less athletic guys that are better basketball players.
Let's hope he can hit a D-1 Curve ball!

Pretty unnecessary. I doubt they planned on sticking around an opponent's message board whom they just curb stomped in a game that was neither competitive nor riveting.

I thought they were/are a classy and knowledgable bunch.

Athletic ability comes from God. Basketball skills comes from coaching.

In responding to your comment, I would rather have both.

Perhaps I should also copy a few of my thoughts that I just posted on Valley Talk:

I agree that Utah State had better coaching in respect to the way their players were prepared. But that preparation started several years ago with a system that takes advantage of a very unique, disciplined culture. Seven Mormons, need I say more? Athletes will trump discipline in equal proportions, but I think they had more discipline than we had athletes if that makes any sense.

I also fear there was a significant IQ differential on the court last night. I'm hoping that with another year, we will see a fraction of the same maturity and discipline in our players that we witnessed with Utah's. If you add that improvement with our roster's God-given talents, we might have something special. :)

            Classic Cold.

In this case, I thought the thread was pretty funny.

Maybe they went a bit over the top, but I've seen WSU fans do the same things on other boards. It's quite embarrassing.

However, I can't get too mad because the Utah State fans here have been pretty stellar.
            Deuces Valley.
            ... No really, deuces.

I'll take everything USU fans brought these last few weeks over the weak sauce that was Cleveland state last year.

I agree USU fan content has run its course and its time for them to head home with their goodwill in hand. However, Cold I think you went overboard in regards to belittling their program. They are the real deal and I'll take more O'Rears of the world and Mormon maturity over our 6'9" athletes who have yet to display they're solid D1 basketball players.
