One thing I noticed last year with JT and with Garrett was that when they'd get a pass in the post it seemed to take them too long to move to the basket. It seemed like they would catch it and think about it--do the token fake pass and 'rear bump', and then maybe try some sort of turnaround move or spin that the defenders could see coming from a mile off.
Both have improved that this year, but I've seen a return to some of that lately. It's like the pressure (which isn't always a double team) makes them doubt their ability to go one-on-one. However, they should expect pressure and deal with it better. Garrett has been doing better to the point of drawing some fouls and getting to the line which is a great sign of improvement. JT has taken a step back in this way. Coach has always said JT isn't really a take it to the rack kind of player, but I wonder why that is? He's big, strong and has a nice touch. Is it because his footspeed isn't what it should be, or is it because he lacks the confidence?

Wichita State had a difficult set of circumstances to prepare for the game. They played on Wed. vs. Evansville and then had to travel to a hard to get to destination that I imagine involved flying in to SLC and traveling by bus a couple hours north to Logan. With all the logistics of that I suspect preparation was not an easy task.
And as for preparing for a bracketbuster game before playing the league game on Wed; I think most coaches would concentrate on the league game first. Coaches are programmed to try to win the league and win league games.
I'm sure GM had assistant coaches looking into the bracketbuster game but i bet the players heard nothing but Evansville in the days leading up to the Evansville game.
Tough circumstances any way you slice it.

You know. Screw this. I liked Wichita State. I liked cheering for them vs. UNI and Missouri State. I planned on following and cheering for them to get to the dance.
I don't have to stick around and get treated like **** from Wichita fans just because of my mere presence.
I've said nothing inflammatory while on this board. I thought WSU fans were a pretty classy bunch. I didn't know that losing a single game was gonna change that so drastically.

Enjoy your run in March, Utah State has exactly what's needed to Shock people."Don't measure yourself by what you have accomplished, but by what you should accomplish with your ability."

To all those over-reacting - JUST STOP!
Damn! We knew going in it would be extremely tough to win at their place. Combine that with our 8-minute drought, the we-hit-the-wall, we-got-no-confidence mental state right now and it's pretty amazing we only lost by 10.
I like to complain and coach from the back-bench as much as anyone, but just chill. Move on to Bradley.
