Does Marshall understand that the enrollment of USU is nearly 25000, and the enrollment of WSU is less than 15000, and of those 15000, a large percentage of those students are returning adults. The point of this is that it is the 'traditional' college students are who create the great, high energy basketball environments. How many student tickets are reserved for USU games compared to WSU? Marshall says we are AAA compared to major league, well, I wonder what the attendance figures at USU would be if they went through a decade or so of horrible basketball like we endured pre-Turgeon. Would they still be getting the numbers we were even in those bad times?

Wow - did he really say that? I think our fanbase is pretty f'ing good. However, if he wants to throw stones...our team is AAA...so I guess that's what he should expect. If he'd quit talking about toughness, the superior athletes he recruits, etc., and actually put the product on the court that he keeps telling us about...then maybe we'll become "major league."

Marshall's a pretty bright guy, and I'm sure he's well aware of the great fans we have--as he's said on numerous occasions. It is pretty clear that he's talking about the students. We're lucky to fill the student section at each game. They get 4000 students to show up. I think it's pretty clear what he means.

For some though he probably needs to spell it out 100% so that everyone is completely clear. For my part, I can read between the lines. You don't badmouth your overall fan base just literally a few days after praising it (on the Press Box he was profuse with his praising of the fans despite the few that booed). C'mon people, you know what he means.

They beat us on the floor, so it's fair for me to say that they are a big league club that beat us bush leaguers.

As was said earlier, you can spin it however you want, but just by watching that game last night, yeah, OMG - I think their place was much louder, many more students, etc. etc. than ours.

If you take that as a slap in the face, so be it. I'm a fan here too; I don't take it that way. Their fans, mainly the student section, were unbelievable - he was giving kudos to them. Yep, their team outperformed ours too - believe that was mentioned and obvious as well.

Seems kinda two faced on some posters part now, it's OK to bad mouth the team, the coach, saying our team sucks...then, when coach merely mentions how great their support was, possibly better than ours...we get our feelings hurt.

Marshall needs to stop worrying about the fans, sports writers and any thing but figuring out what its going to take to get this team playing better again. I'm sure he was just trying to complement USU's great fans but after what happened last week it won't come off that way and he should know better. Coach the team and the rest will work itself out.

Give GM a break on this one. You could take his comment numerous ways, but I intially took it as a compliment to the Aggie fans. The triple A reference was . . . unfortunate.

So what if we FINALLY played in an arena where, perhaps, the fans and student section are louder, more vocal, and better organized than we are. We certainly are nowhere near the best basketball team in the country, either, but from continued comments by sportscasters on national TV, we rank right up amongst the top in fan support.

AAA fans are just reacting to the AA product on the floor. 1e had a. AAA team that looked like they were. Prospects but they weren't.
I didn't boo that un-inspired mess the other night. In fact I shot a guy a look when he was booing. Enough fan insults. Marshall got support when he hasn't given the fans anything but losing seasons. We get a winning season and it is blown.
Or this could be solved and the team could do something on offense instead of passing around the perimeter until we can jack a 3 as the shot clock expires.

That was a great atmosphere. You know it's great when you can hear it over the TV. Usually quite a bit gets lost in translation so to speak.

Truth is, I don't think it really bothered our guys much. Our poor play and shooting at times didn't have much to do with the fans intimidation (in my opinion). I think it might have inspired us some actually. Obviously not enough to win, but we do have a loud crowd too and I think they're used to a noisy arena. The problems we had last night in the game had nothing to do with that though.

He doesn't need a break, he needs to coach. Worry about why our offense is so bad lately, worry about why CH has fallen off so much... he's got plenty of other things to talk about than the fans. That goes for last night, that goes for last week. He is a great coach, he has done a hell of a job and I'm not trying to take that away from him. I respect his fire and his intensity but he's not helping himself on this one.
