One would like to think that these kids are battle hardened veterans but they are still kids playing a game in front of a sold out arena of head coaches. Some of them are having to deal with adversity for the first time in their lives and we expect them to man up. The Shocker Nation lost a very good supporter a month ago at his own hand, he was a grown, mature man but he could not deal with the adversity in his own life. All things must pass and this too will pass, now is not the time to panic and toss out the baby. Of course these are my opinions and don't necessarily relflect the view/opinions of the network.
Tell me Hannah doesn't look a step slow compared to earlier in the season. Tell me that giving williams more PT at Bradley is a negative and will have a negative impact on the team.

Sorry, I don't see how it can do anything but help this team going forward.

I suggest not getting so hung up on who 'starts', instead focus on more quick subbing. Meaning, who cares who you start if 2 minutes in you sub out Stutz for Ellis, Kyles for Murry. 2 minutes is just an arbitrary number, but basically just perhaps they could just run subs more quickly.

Keeping the starters would keep some semblance of consistency, but then just sub out quickly as the situation warrants.

EDIT: Sub Sutz for JT, Blair for AE.

It seems like Marshall has a quota of minutes for each player, no matter how they play. If you don't change the starting lineup, fine, whatever. I personally think something needs to change because what we have now is not working. However, if a player is sucking it up, yank him, and maybe give him a wakeup call with a quick lecture. If a player is playing well, keep him in for a bit while he's feeling it.

This can't be rocket science, can it?

Hannah looks a step slower, Tourre looks lethargic, Hatch looks beat down, Durley has no fire, give Williams more playing time. Ok is that what you wanted to hear? Where in my post did I say they didn't? I said giving them time off of practice would be more beneficial to them long term than sitting them in a game. Who would you sit? The starters or just the ones that you think really need it. And who would that be? Why not rest the first 10 leave them at home and play the walkons and the student managers at bradley. Why not take the intramural league champion and let them play bradley. Yeah I know it sounds silly but......

Sounds good to me. It'd be refreshing to see someone play hard for a change.

LOL sadly the manager might be just as good... That is a joke! However poor in taste it is.

Just give the bench more time than they have been getting. Simple as that. I'm not picking a fight I'm just trying to make my point unversally clear. Gregg keeps the starters as is based on more factors than overall game performance.

They practice to get better. Sitting out practice doesn't make sense to me. If they watch a little more during the game it might do the following, rest, inspire and educate them on what they can do better or differently to make them more effective in a "real" environment not simulation. The players themselves will have to see it because the staff has said everything you can say at this point.

Now to go in a completely different direction.....do you think if they had been making more shots as of late we would be asking for a shake up? I wonder has this team been this way all year and the only difference is that they are not making as many baskets so we focus on other things? I think I have noticed a change.

Obviously not enough time to prepare or not enough time for this team to prepare. Coach mentioned in his post game that we saw what they were going to run from the bench and we went over it in practice but the guys did not see it and forget about trying to get a message into them.

Fatigue comes in many forms, physical, hitting that proverbial wall you have to fight thru, mental fatigue, attitude, all affect an athletes performance.

Is this team fatigued from sheer physical exertion....Thats a problem if this is the sole answer unless our guys or key players play more minutes than anyone. That means our cardio training is lacking to some degree.

mental fatigue....coming from continued lack luster performances from teamates, failures, negative press, negative sound bites from the coaching staff, negative fans in the stands, frustrations, personal life, friends and family ect....Athletes that can compartmentalize these things have a huge leg up on other players

These two both affect greatly an athletes attitude and from my experience affect the athletes ability to fight thru adversity i.e. hitting the wall, summoning up extra effort it takes to get thru the wall. In some people it takes the fight out of them. What I think we need more than rest or anything else is Leadership. Not that rest wouldn’t help….but the players only meeting didn’t have much of an affect. Which I believe means they lack a leader or that someone who will play with reckless abandon. Hatch comes close to that but is not a vocal leader it would seem

With two days to prepare for Utah State's varied playbook, the Shockers started at a disadvantage. The Aggies screened, moved and passed unselfishly. Every player on the floor could shoot.
"They run their offense," Kyles said. "Most people just go through the motions. They actually sprint through everything." The Aggies played just as well on defense. The Shockers got few easy baskets on breaks or from offensive rebounds. Forced to go against Utah State's zone defense most of the night, the Shockers shot poorly. Starting guards Clevin Hannah and Toure Murry combined to shoot 3 of 17 from the field and score eight points.
"They fight over screens, and it's hard to run screens against them," Hannah said. "We missed a lot of shots. We shot a lot of jump shots and we weren't connecting on them." The Shockers, despite a good effort from the reserves, couldn't keep up with the Aggies
The aggies aren’t as deep as this team yet they are able to run their offense at what appeared to be break neck speed. I believe its because they are 100% committed and have an unwavering confidence in their system. Any negatives around them have been flushed. I will say that something that does help them is that they rarely ran except when we pressed and they play zone defense which allows for a certain amount of physical recovery.
I think a small shake up in the line up would be good…but I believe our problems are youth, experience and more mental fatigue than physical. There are no throw away games though. That would send a bad sign and we need to build confidence and they wont get that sitting on the bench.

Our advantage last night was in athleticism. I wished about 20 times that GM would have everyone just clear out and let Kyles take his man one on one to the basket?!

That was there all night long for Kyles...unfortunately we really didn't ever see it.

The preparation excuse is lame. Utah State had the exact same amount of time for preparation as we did and executed perfectly.

I agree that this team lacks a leader. It's just not there. The guys just don't seem to have a gluey chemistry when on the court. Not a lot of high fives or back pats.

Just a lot of very disappointing factors all coming together.

USU had to fly to USU and back. Still no excuses - they just flat out whipped us.

I assume you meant WSU flew to USU and back. Yeah, WSU flew, but that would mean every road game is an excuse. Nope.

I don't think dk has shown much of a penchant as a 1 on1 scorer in half court offense. Especially with his ball handling problems. I guess its worth a shot though. I just don't see it as a no brainer option for the offense
