  • Shake it up Gregg!!

I said it a month ago, but no one wanted to hear it then. I suggested Blair start, and I was a heretic. Today I suggest a bigger shake up, with Blair (if healthy) and Kyles starting. I don't care if Blair starts for JT or Ellis. It will be an improvement either way. Stutz isn't ready to start. TM needs a wake up call. Ellis hasn't changed a thing, decent defense, 0 offense. Durley only plays one half, so let it be the second so he can play defense without worrying about fould trouble.

Whatever, these kids need a wake up call before we get to St. Louis! :yahoo:

I am in favor of some kind of change. However, with the inconsistent nature of Stutz and Kyles, it would be hard to make that the option. In contrast, unless Blair enjoys coming off the bench, swapping Blair for Ellis might be the shakeup to jar things loose.

I was happy to see Stutz get the start in the second half against USU. It could mean that the winds of change are blowing.

Looks like it MIGHT happen (the change up).

WSU coach Gregg Marshall said maybe it’s time to make changes. We will see if that happens for Wednesday’s game. You can make a case for making changes at some spots. You can make a case that WSU is 22-7 with that starting lineup and it’s smarter to let them work it out while keeping the reserves in a groove that is working for them. Toure Murry is in a shooting slump. Graham Hatch isn’t shooting it as well as he did earlier. But they are two of WSU’s best perimeter defenders and rebounders
Also, our fans can learn something from Utah St's fans. Can we make the "big leagues"?

“The atmosphere is special,” Marshall said. “You talk about our atmosphere – whoa. We might be Triple-A.”

We need to devise some clever cheers and coordinate them via printed sheets on everyone's chair. Or maybe the marketing department can develop them and use the video boards to make it work.

I have always thought that our student section sucked big time.

You get the old guy in the front row flashing the Shocker, the stocking cap, sunglasses and a stupid Hawaiian shirt? That is pathetic we ought to be able to do better than that.

The K-State students are better than ours.

That was quite an atmosphere last night.
Let's hope he can hit a D-1 Curve ball!

Well, in fainess, the K-State students are given about 10 times more seats than our students are, plus they are seated at mid-court.

To me the Bradley game is s throw away game. Play the bench. I think Hannah is just tired and a step slow. He has played too many minutes and needs rest. Murry just isn't effective and hasn't been for a while. Clearly, I don't know what will make him click again but I don't see the harm in resting starters. The post season options of this team all rides on St. Louis why not have them rested for playing 3 games in 3 days. Why didn't Ellis start the 2nd half last night???? Because he was ineffective. I think Gregg needs to look at the rest of his starters with the same eye because there is more than just one player performing like that.

If ILL St. wins at UNI we end up as the 3rd seed anyway (we are not going to win at Bradley the way we are currently playing) might as well start preparing now by resting the starters. Just have to protect the home court on Saturday against SIU.

Just so I'm clear. Yes, we have done better than expected this year (based on preseason ranking) but we are not playing well enough right now to beat very many average teams.

I get what you are saying. But I would be disappointed if the team just "gave up" on the Bradley game. They may play that way, but I sure as hell hope they don't prepare that way.

If HCGM is going to shake some things up, change a little playing time, and player combinations, time is running out. Much better to do it at Bradley than here with SIU on senior night.

Oh I definately agree. Shake up the starting lineup and playing time. I guess I read the post wrong. if so I appologize. To me it sounded like we should just concede the Bradley game as a loss regardless. I just would hope they wouldn't plan on the game being a loss and try to find a way to get the win.

He's been saying it over two-weeks now. He freely admits that the team has hit the wall. The actions on the court clearly show uninspired and effortless play by the starters. I'm tired of reading quotes by the players how they were outplayed by the other team. Players commenting on how well Evansville players are 100 percent non-stop as well as quotes from last night's game.

Hello! If you see these guys going full bore the entire game, don't you want to pick up yours to match their intensity? We have guys that aren't doing this. If it is because they are physically worn down, then GM, give these guys a break and start some players with fresher legs.

Don't wait until it's too late to do something more drastic. Besides, a starter who sees his backup start outperforming him is not going to sit lightly with this guy. Perhaps it will re-energize this guy to act like a starter.

If the University and Administration have done anything wrong, and I'm not saying they have, it has to be student participation. The student section for the Evansville game was embarrassing. Our cheerleaders and dance team, are frankly embarrassing. Our band is not what it used to be. I favor using recorded music in many cases, but the band is old and tired. I'm not sure Marshall's comments weren't both directed at the atmosphere, and one more shot at the boo's he heard the other night. Regardless, the Athletic Department and the student leadership need to come to grips with student participation leading the atmosphere at Koch. This years cheerleaders are especially woeful.

I'm not saying to throw in the towel on the game I'm saying there is a lot to be gained in terms of fatigue and possibly motivation by resting a few players not to mention the bench could use the experience and have more energy to burn.

Rest some players? Give me a break. The Indianpolis Colts did that and everyone from the owner on down was crucified in the media. Changing the rotation or starting line up is not out of order but if you sit players to rest them its going to bite someone in the butt and that butt does not reside on SN. Backing off practice time will give them more rest than during a game. HCGM for all intentional purposes is a smart man and an excellent coach. He has a staff that is excellent and I would suppose gives him intelligent feedback. This isn't just one set of eyes looking at the situation. He has 15 different personalities to deal with and some of them may be more fragile than others. One would like to think that these kids are battle hardened veterans but they are still kids playing a game in front of a sold out arena of head coaches. Some of them are having to deal with adversity for the first time in their lives and we expect them to man up. The Shocker Nation lost a very good supporter a month ago at his own hand, he was a grown, mature man but he could not deal with the adversity in his own life. All things must pass and this too will pass, now is not the time to panic and toss out the baby. Of course these are my opinions and don't necessarily relflect the view/opinions of the network.
