  • What can Tiger teach us about Shocker Basketball?

I am more of a Tiger fan this moment than I have ever been. It took enormous courage to stand and repent as he did today.

The Shocker lesson: We all need to be more respectful of the game.

    Go Shox

Very hard to not be cynical on this one, only his actions from here on will convince me it is a true apology.

I'm by far less of a fan of Tiger Woods after the statement. First of all, if he had somethig to say, he should of said it & not read it.
It was thoughtful to apologize to his employees & family & to take responsibility.
But, he's hiding in his therapy while his wife takes care of his kids. He lost me when he had to have therapy to deal with his success & his excesses. Therapy is nothing more than a retreat where he gets to learn justification for his actions. If he's sorry, grow up & deal with your problems. DOn't run off to a little retraeat to hide. Oh and learn to drive. Most people can back out of their drive way w/o hurting themselves. If you have all of that lavish luxury & entitlement, do your neighborhodd a favor & hire a driver.
As far as the title to the thread, I don't think Tiger teaches us much. For the most part, WSU basketball has been lacking gaudy results. WSU fans are loyal to their team through the ups & downs. We work hard in our lives & work hard to support the team. While we might have been frustrated by a bad loss, we still support our team & look forward to the future & plan to support our team into that future.

I've never been a huge fan. I'm less of one now. His future actions will dictate the rest. He's still a scumbag if you ask me.

The guy is a joke. He sets about as good as an example for kids as a normal slimeball. He's all staged.
He sure isn't Bobby Jones either on the course or off of it.

I don't need an athlete to be my role model. My dad is the best role model I could have. Tiger is the man.

Well, unfortunately, Tiger wasn't raised by your father.

"dont talk to me about fouls....Ive got to go back and look at some tape... I have some thoughts but I need to look at the tape and then I will have something very strong to say"

The only thing barely noticable about that monotone diatribe was when his wife's lawyer must have got to Tiger and made certain he included the "she never beat me" statement.

Everyone is sorry when they get caught. Having said that, I thought he did a nice job and I'm glad he's defending his family. Time to move on.

He always has been, even when he was young and won the two US Amateurs. I will post youtube link later supporting this. As like an 18 year old he was going to "party like hell" after he won the second US Amateur.

Wow, don't quite know where to start with this one here but I'll try.

I have always admired Tiger's golfing talent and have respected him as an athlete, but when it comes down to it he is just a man just like you and me. Your comment regarding him reading his statement instead of just talking off the cuff makes me laugh. Tiger is not an entertainer. He has been a very private person throughout his whole career. We have always known very little about Tiger the man. I don't know how you can expect the guy to make an off the cuff 15 minute statement and possibly expect him to be able to do that successfully. Very few people in the world could do that.

However, the one comment that I have a problem with that you stated is your statement regarding him going away to a retreat while he leaves his wife to take care of his kids. You have obviously not had the misfortune of watching someone close to you deal with addiction or demons. For the majority of people in the world it is not as simple as snapping your fingers and then suddenly you can be on the right path and your life is hunky dory swell. More than likely this addiction/demon will be the toughest opponent Tiger will ever battle in his life. I respect his decision to make this his top priority and hope that he can come out of this a better man for both his wife and his kids sake.

He's a great golfer. I never expected him to be anything else. Next time he's on the course I'll be hoping he wins.
