  • From our AD today....USU will honor WSU FB team

    from 40 years ago.

Our AD just spoke at our luncheon today. He knew every single detail about the tragic accident 40 years ago, I was so impressed. They will be honored on Saturday. Thought I would let you know. I hope ESPN2 catches it.

The part he mentioned that realy caught my attention.....WSU has not been back to Logan since then. Not once. Until this Saturday. It will be 40 years to the day. What amazed me also was the detail he went into talking about the flight from Denver to Logan. How it all happened. I learned a lot today about all the circumstances and flight decisions that led to this tragedy. I look forward to Saturday, win or lose, to participate in honoring these great people who were Shockers from Wichita State!

That's great. I'm looking forward to the game. I hope ESPN catches it too, since it will be the only way most of us in Wichita will see it.

Wow. This game will mean so much more than just two teams lining up for a shot at the Tourney. I appreciate the gesture, as I'm sure most Shockers do also.

I'm not a huge "story" guy, but this should be highlighted by the national media.

If ESPN fails to talk about this "story" and the significance of Wichita State being in Logan for the first time in 40 years then they will hear from me.

                      +1 :good:

Hopefully, we will be able to see this back in Wichita.

Like the gesture from Arkansas and their fans, I also won't forget the nice gesture from USU.

Side note: Interesting to listen while I'm working. They don't seem to know much if anything about WSU's team. They seem to have trouble with handling the press.
I think this is going to be a very good game.

Utah State just became a team I will always pull for...except against the Shocks. Very classy move.

I know this has probably already been said, but for those Shocker and/or Aggie fans that are too young to have remembered the crash and the details, the Black and Gold: Remembering the WSU plane crash video/documentary that came out last fall is an excellent source of info. I'm not so young that I don't remember football (the homecoming parade used to go right by my house near 13th and Oliver) and I found the story to be heartbreaking but informative and very well done.

Sadly, you can't see the whole thing online (you have to buy the video) but you can catch clips from various parts on the KPTS website:

Well worth purchasing and owing in my opinion.

It's great to hear Utah State will be honoring those who died. It is a classy move that WSU fans won't soon forget.
