A little old-school Missouri Valley flavor has son heading to play in the Valley of the Sun.

Hersey Hawkins son Corey Hawkins will be playing at Arizona St. next year. In last nights game...Hawkins broke Mike Bibby's Arizona state scoring record. Thus far in his Senior season at Estrella Foothills High School...Corey has scored 3,004 points.

Thanks AZ for posting this. Let's thank our lucky stars that this 'rising star' did not follow his Dad's footsteps to Bradley. AZ, it just seems like yesterday (was it 10 years or more?) that FSF was posting at 2 a.m. about the beloved Shocks when wins were like pulling hens teeth. Your 'posting name' was even different at that time? That memorable night, you were posting right along with me right here on SN, while we should have been asleep like most folk. Then there was your renowned "11-11-11 Trivia Thread' which is now ShockerNet folklore. That thread was one that all new posters should go back and read in it's entirety. It was unbelievable on so many fronts and quite entertaining.

I wonder if Bradley tried to recruit him. Not only was his dad an alum but the current Bradley coach (Les) was a teammate of Hersey's.

Bradley fans would have loved to land the Hawkins kids, but it was kinda predetermined that they didn't want to follow Dad's path and have such expectations saddled upon them from the outset.
Brandon (just finishing up at juco), Corey ( a scoring legend already in AZ and going to Arizona State), and youngest bro Devon (a HS freshman already scoring 12 ppg on the same team Corey is averaging 35 ppg) are all good kids and it's nice that Shocker fans have offered kind words.
