  • NIT?

Why are so many of your expectations so low?

I know, I know...your just being a realist. I prefer to be an optimist.

I say we CAN win St. Louis. My son says "No we can't. We can't win on the road". I say St. Lou is not "the road", it's neutral.

We will have beaten every team in the league. Shocker fans will travel well as always...hopefully more so. We make it home-like. We win.

    We dance!

We've never played very well in St. Louis. I believe we are the only MVC team not to have made the Championship game during the Tournament's tenure in St. Louis.

That said I agree that we are very capable of winning the Tournament.

We are also very capable of being one and done.

One thing for sure is that we are going to have to play better, smarter and harder than we have been playing recently.

Hopefully, we use the remainder of the season to get back into a solid groove.

I'm not saying the Shox will win the Valley tournament (I don't think we will), but using the past as a reason they won't is....well....crazy.

I think we can win the MVC.

I am not saying we will, but I am not willing to say anytime will win.

UNI has rolled through the season, but they have had many close games, and they are unlikely to have much crowd support in St. Louis.

            (MVC post season tournament.)

            Are you going?

I am, but I am a little shaky at the moment. Teresa is putting big pressure on me to save the money.

After coming off perhaps our worse loss ever, let's first see how we finish the season before boldly predicting our chances of sweeping St. Louis.

Call me an optimist but I think if we win our way into the championship game against NIU we have a real shot of winning the tournament. NIU is in the tournament so they don't have a lot to play for other than a higher seed in the big dance.

Have faith Shocker fans! If we play up to our potential we can make the tournament and knock out one of the BCS mid-level teams out of the tournament. Does it get any better than this?

I'm actually okay with going to the NIT. Obviously not my first choice but I love playing BCS teams at home.

I think that we could win a couple more games to improve our win record.

UNI RPI is being held up by their gaudy winning pct. It all depends on what happens the rest of the regular season, but if UNI falters in the Bracket Busters game, maybe picks up another conference loss and would happen to lose early in the MVC tournament - I could see UNI staying at home.

UNI case is really hurt by not having another 1 or 2 quality teams who are NCAA bubble. It's making the MVC looking like....well....the 9th rated conference in the nation. Of course if the MVC does well in the BB game that perception could change.

so far we've proven we're the only team capable of beating UNI. We have as good a shot as anyone of taking them down in the Lou. The question is can win the first 2 games?

I agree we can beat UNI, but not because they don't have as much to play for. They will be playing for NCAA seeding, which as we found out can be a big deal.

As Dan said, we've proven we can beat them.

As usual, I'll be there. The Mentor will be along too as has been the case for the last 11 years.

We don't miss the festivities in STL. It's a great time and The Valley puts on a good show.

Once you've been a few times, it's easy to get hooked. Staying home and watching on the tube would be tough after going so many years. 8)
Above all, make the right call.
