Remember when Marshal said his teams would play as if their hair was on fire? Not seein it. The overall lack of concentration, intensity and focus when so much is on the line, and when they are having success, is baffling. It makes me think something is going on internally with this team but that may be me just overthinking..... For now, I have no idea how this team will perform from game to game....I have at least a temporary loss of trust in their ability to maintain a consistantly high level of play

It's hard for me to articulate how disappointed I am in the loss against UE. I don't know if it is an internal issue, preparation issue, or a myriad of issues. Or if it is as simple as the other teams' understanding the Shockers' weakness and they continue to kidney punch it. I suspect it is more strategic, sprinkled with a little bit of lethargy and over-confidence.
For a team to play without focus and preparation this late in the season for so much at stake is indeed perplexing. It shouts out inconsistency for this team to be the only MoVal team to beat UNI and the only MoVal team to lose to UE.
HCGM will figure it out.
Regardless, let's support the team to victory against MSU. Perhaps the overwhelming support will instill short-term motivation and long-term inspiration to this team and indicate our incredible support, what we expect, and what the standards are when one puts on a Shocker uniform.

I've stayed away from this forum since that embarrassing loss. I venture back and I'm still incredulously mad.
"short-term motivation and long-term inspiration"
Hope so, but how many times will this need to bite us before we finally and honestly learn from it? MoState was it last year, several games this year was when "we learned our lesson". When will we learn?
Will it be next year when JT Durley is one of our senior leaders? I somehow doubt it.

If my hair were on fire, the last thing I would be doing is worrying about playing a basketball game.

I think the initial post was a valid one. How could you play 25 basketball games and be literally having an NCAA Tournament in the cusp of your back pocket, and go out on the basketball floor and simply give it away. All that greatness in November, December, and parts of January... down the freaking toilet. I just can't imagine an entire team not wanting to go to the place where their ultimate goal lies. It's just mind-boggling. The only thing I can come up with is a flaw in the coaching that's now being exposed, a team chemistry issue (likely), or a combination.Deuces Valley.
... No really, deuces.

I don't buy into the excuse about EU having some sort of incredible defense. They haven't won a valley game for a reason - they aren't good. WSU should not have had a problem with their defense. I think it's a mental thing with our team. We've obviously been scouted and teams are expoiting our weaknesses - hope Marshall can figure it out sooner than later.
