  • Does Wichita State play football?

I was pretty sure Wichita State had a football team. Do you still play football?

I know you're baseball team is always very good. Utah State doesn't have baseball.... unfortunately, my favorite sport.

Friend, I would hope a Utah State fan would know that Wichita State once had football.

Oh well, now you know. And baseball is my favorite sport, too.

Yes, I knew all about that. We've discussed it at length on our message board. I didn't know that the program was dropped after your conference mates all decided to drop to I-AA. If USU had been independent for more than a few years in the early 2000's we wouldn't have a program either.

Also, many people unfamiliar with our programs think that the football program went away after the crash. NOT true. It continued through 1987 I think.

I think USU will likely have a moment of silence before our BB game in remembrance of the tragedy. I sure hope we do. I know alot of our fans have talked about doing it.

1/16/2010 on the "Screw at the Q" HCGM... " Ive never seen a foul parade like that...If you would of let me know it was going to be a foul parade I would of brought a different team" .... "dont talk to me about fouls....Ive got to go back and look at some tape... I have some thoughts but I need to look at the tape and then I will have something very strong to say"

The WSU football program was "suspended" in early December 1986- shortly after the 1986 season came to and end.

The last game of the year was at Arizona St. if I remember right and the game was televised on espn.

                  Last WSU Football game

You are right about the last game being at AZ State. I lived in Mesa, AZ, then and attended the game. WSU lost by a score of around 7-56! We had a huge booster party at Rustler's Rooste in S Phoenix before the game. Several plane loads of people from Wichita came down for the game. After the party, we were all bused over to Sun Devil Stadium for the game. WSU lost, but we did definitely have the best cheer leaders!

Final score at Arizona State 52-6, and yes, the last WSU game ever played.

But who can forget the last time we played K-State, a 16-10 victory to open the 1985 season?

Sour subject for me, having attended WSU football, basketball, and the early resurrected baseball regularly throughout my childhood (1978-1988) I opted to attend Kansas State because of a desire to have a semblance of a traditional college experience, even following WSU while attending KSU. I wised up two years later and enrolled at WSU and have never looked back.

I look forward to the next two games against the Aggies. All the best till our programs meet.
