Maybe not to you, but a 2 point win vs Evansville might be a confidence buster for the team!

I think what I mean is, we just need to get it done. It's hard to get 'up' for an 0-13 team, and being the 2nd place team in the league, we do have a bit of a target on our backs--particularly for teams like EU who could use a win against us as a momentum changer to salvage some of their season. It's just the way of things. So, we could see a very energized EU team, we're playing in a gym that's probably going to lack energy of any kind, and mental toughness (MTXE again) and executing despite these things will determine outcome. This team at times (and I love 'em and watching them like all of us...) has lacked some focus particularly away from home at times. Not all the time, but at times.

EU is not as 'bad' as their record would seem to indicate. Nowhere near the level of the Shox, but 0-13 is pretty terrible, and I don't believe there are any TERRIBLE teams in this league. There are definitely some differences, and EU was never a favorite to compete for the championship, but I suspect not many would have predicted they would be winless in conference play either.

The losing skid will eventually end for EU. I'm just praying it isn't tonight. Maybe they can find their 'mojo' against UNI--now wouldn't that be nice?

After last night I see no way they come out overlooking UE. This game will be over early.
I am quoting SubGod because I am thinking like him on this one.

So many people make predictions based on the prior game -- not that this is wrong, it's just interesting. Against Indiana State the predictions were generally of a wide margin because even though we didn't beat UNI and it wasn't the prettiest game, we played tough and came within a possession of winning at ranked team's home court.

Then we have the emotional roller coaster of a game with Indiana State, who was tied for fourth at the time and just happened to shoot the lights out, so now the predictions show a much narrow gap based on that result.

So the game against ISU clearly didn't reflect our effort against UNI.

Why would we expect the ISU game to carry over to the Evansville game? We aren't a team of headcases that sit around and stew about what happened the last game (only the fans and bad teams tend to do that). Evansville is nowhere NEAR as good as Indiana State.

Unless I am wrong and for some silly reason our guys are sitting around beating ourselves up over a great comeback win (why the hell would they?), this is a 15 point win scenario.

This game is so dangerous for a couple reasons:

          1) We showed that we can play bad enough to nearly lose to a greatly inferior team (at home).

          2) If ISU was a wounded bear in a Sycamore tree, Evansville is a wounded bear with an empty stomach and a severe migraine in a Sycamore tree.

          3) We have so much to lose. This is the real McCoy. If we lose this game it will certainly affect our seeding in the NIT.

          4) Evansville believes they have a chance.

          5) Indiana St. only beat Evansville by 7 a little over a week ago aided by Harry Marshall's 21 points. I would be well within my own logical constraints to propose that ISU would lose to UE today.

Even with all of that said, Evansville has been getting blown out a lot and appears to be a very weak team. It will depend on how we match up with their style of play (unless we dictate flow which I hope we do), our energy level, and our ability to execute. If we play them close, it won't feel like a loss, but it won't feel like a win either. We need to get right and win big.

Some of you (me) are taking a way too pessimistic approach.

Enjoy watching the team you love compete tonight. It should be a lot of fun.

Yes the guys should win and do so easily, but if you don't enjoy tonight, then you are going to be scared to watch them the rest of the season. When do you enjoy the games as spectators?

If you can't answer that question, I suggest you re-evaluate your fandom.

It's all a matter of confidence. Winning the way we did the other night has the tendency to drain a fan's confidence from his team. Confidence is born from performance. I was totally at peace during the recent game against UNI. I was totally at peace at the start of the game against ISU. I was not at peace after the ISU game ended. I was relieved.

Dr., I would suggest you read my post concerning fan behavior and honesty in another thread. You appear to be a very passionate fan willing to defend your team to the death via a message board. But if I was a betting man, I would bet that you have screamed some horrible things at your television set while watching a Shocker game in the privacy of your home. Might I suggest you re-evaluate your fandom? No, I wouldn't do that, I would just say you are a human being whose emotions are deeply tied to the successes and failures of your team. It is normal behavior and legitimizes your support. There is no need to feel ashamed or to admonish others for expressing their hurt or happiness.

My point is simply that if your expectations are a bit high (beating EU by 25 at their place imho is way too high) then I am not sure you are going to ever enjoy this....and isn't that why we are fans in the first place?

If not, then I wonder if you don't also enjoy being treated like this:
