I have been very critical at times of this team. And you figure I'd be pissed after being down almost 20 to a team that is mediocre at best with 2 starters out. However, the resiliency this group showed in the second half was tremendous.
And I've come to the realization that at this point in the year you take a win any way you can get it. I don't care how we do it, in what way we do it, to who we do it, just effing do it. Northern Iowa nearly dropped one at home to the 9th place Valley team tonight.
Every freaking team in the country is immune to off-nights, even at home (Georgetown to South Florida, etc.) I can't expect perfect basketball every game. Just get the win and I'll be happy. And that's what the boys did.
It was a bit disconcerting though how big the deficit grew in this situation but let's hope this one woke the boys up and they're read to go at Evansville.
Our slim homes for the NCAA's are still alive even after 30 minutes of ugly ball tonight.
Just celebrate victory.

Bruce is so bad. Hes like I am not one for Cliches and Hyperbole then he uses catch phrases the entire rest of the game.....come one man don't lie to me.
My bad. I am not trying to pile on Bruce. I like him alright and he is a former Shocker. It just seems like he is a doofus sometimes when he loves up the other team.
The shox came out flat, but give InSU a lot of credit in this game.
They were hitting guarded shots, off-balance shots, forced shots, shots you'd gladly give an opponent. They were just flat hitting every time they let go of the ball. At some point, I just felt like congratulating them for doing a great job.
There was a reason WSU was jacking up 3's most of the game. ISU's zone was really tough on WSU's inside game. The passing lanes were pretty clogged. When they could get the ball inside, t was an immediate double-team/trap. ISU played a great zone and pretty much took WSU out of their game.
Eventually ISU wore down. Then getting the ball to JT worked and the rotations and traps weren't getting set up as quick. ISU ran out of gas about the same time the corwd finally got going.
When WSU was down 15 with 8 and change left, I turned to the person beside me, who was pretty gloomy, and said, "we can beat this team by 15 in 8 minutes". Yep.
The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades. We like to cut down nets and get sized for championship rings.
Well when the Shocks were down by 15 with about 8:30 left in the game I was thinking at least this will take the pressure off until the MVC Tournament. We can concentrate on just getting better and resting up for the Tournament because we have eliminated any chance for an at-large bid and will have to win the Tournament to make the dance.
Then all of a sudden the Shocks screw up, make a great comeback and now the pressure is still on. Thank goodness.
Credit to INS. They played very well and with a lot of energy and once they got it rolling they were simply not missing much of anything.
Not sure what caused the Shocks to turn it on out of nowhere, but sometimes this kind of win can do more for you than a blowout.
