So you might be wondering just how WSU Men's Basketball teaches if you are a narcissistic bastard? WSU MBB gives us the opportunity to self-evaluate, and to evaluate others, by giving us lots of discussion to bring the real "you" out. Here is the quick and dirty "how-to" on determining if you are a narcissistic bastard, complete with a case study!
Like coaches often record turnover-to-assist ratio to evaluate the performance of a point guard, we will be using a very similar equation. Instead of turnovers we will be recording "egovers". And instead of assists we will be recording paragraphs. So to determine if someone (including yourself) is a narcissistic bastard, just record your egover-to-paragraph ratio for several of your posts.
Case Study: Shockernet.net poster MTXE
Pull up any post on the WSU MBB forum on Shockernet.net that has two or more paragraphs. This is just a rule of thumb, but let's use two to be consistent and give it a scientific feel. For this case study we will use this post by MTXE (but could use generally any post by MTXE):
First we record the "egovers" by counting how many times the poster has used any of the following words: I, my, me, mine
In the example MTXE has used the word I a total of 4 times, so he has 4 egovers.
Next, record the number of paragraphs in the post.
In the example MTXE has written 2 paragraphs.
While consistently scoring a 25% or higher egover-to-paragraph ratio is enough to give you a "self-indulgent" title, a consistent 35% will win you the coveted ShockerFever "d-bag" title. But the narcissists really have to consistently score in the 50% or more.
In the example above MTXE has scored (4 / 2) * 100 = a whopping 200%! And since we can repeat these results on many, if not most, of MTXE's posts we can certainly put him in the "narcisstic bastard that we should generally ignore" column.
Exercise 1: Try this at home with some of MTXE's other posts and let us know what score you calculate!

Thanks for posting this. I have always wondered what this person's posts looked like. I have to say that I agree with a lot of this one. Smile
However, I hope EO's upside, not his learning curve is massive. Smile
