After playing for Turgeon for 3 years and working with Marshall for 3 years, Matt's going to have a pretty attractive resume the day he gets his Master's and is no longer eligible to be a GA at WSU.

It's probably possible to go directly into coaching without being a GA. I doubt many schools have a graduate degree as a requirement for every Asst. Coach. Having the advanced degree is generally required to be a Head Coach.

Matt's chances at success and immediate employmment are better with the Master's and Matt is a pretty bright kid who's going to do what's best for himself in the long haul.
The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.

Well Kung, you did come up with one. I don't think there are too many who go directly into a full time assistant position. I don't think that even Okon (DOBO) is considered a full time assistant and is limited in what duties he has (although it is full time). Some teams including our baseball team also have volunteer assistants that have duties (and are probably full time).

Meh, I found a few more, but clearly they are the exception and not the rule by a long shot. Like everyone has said, he'll get his shot in due time.
