Who thinks having four timeouts at the end of the game is acceptable. We were down by 17 at one time..... Stop the bleeding. Sitting Murray for so long with two fouls.... Two fouls should be game situations.... Look at Josh Young... This loss along with the Creighton loss is pure coaching.

Pure coaching? Part coaching perhaps, but the guys have to hustle and execute the game plan the coaches draw up. From what I saw today, that was a problem.

Coaching didn't make Hatch go 1 for 9, or allowing Drake to shoot 55% from the field and 54% from 3pt.

But as other have pointed out, Coach is responsible for getting his team ready to play or find some players who want to - they weren't and that is on him.

If WSU could have got over the "hump" when they were trailing 5pts with less than 2 minutes - those timeouts might have made a difference.

He may not be able to play, but as the coach should he not at least utilize the tools he has? He has the ability to change the flow with one simple gesture. He could sit there and say absolutely nothing for all I care, but that brief break may allow one or two guys to get their heads on straight before staring at a double digit first half deficit.

the problem was how close the runs were to official timeouts. i am not an expert on coaching obviously but each time i thought wsu should call a timeout in the first half i looked at the clock and saw that an offical timeout was coming shortly. i also believe that marshall wants this young team to learn how to play through the bad stretches, especially on the road b/c every team is going to have them.

i agree that when you are the on the road it is much more important to call that early timeout. i watched it work out pretty well today for okie st against ksu.

Somebody that is a doubter out there (which I'm not one) should simply call in the question on Monday's show and find out what his reasoning was for not calling a timeout. Additionally, you should state the reasons that he should have called one after his answer if you don't like what he says. His reasoning may be idealogical (that he would never call timeouts so that his team finds themselves) or he may have a specific reason for this game that would be different another game.

No offense, but I for one just think Marshall should do what he feels is best. He didn't take Winthrop to 7 NCAA tournaments, and didn't turn this team from bottom feeder to MVC title contender from pure luck. He knows what he is doing. I'm more concerned bout losing him to a bigger school than I am about his choices of timeouts. He isn't perfect, sure. This team has one senior, and was picked 5th in the conference. Next year is our year, even without Hannah. It's disappointing that we couldn't capitalize on our talent this year with an at-large. But nit picking the coaching seems pointless. He knows more about basketball than any of us, let him do his job, and give him and his boys support.

There are many coaches who feel taking the timeout to try to alter momentum fuels the momentum of the other team more than it is helpful in changing momentum. It does seem it often works in that way. Also, it depends in part on the team's system and whether/how well it can be adjusted without a timeout. Marshall's system includes significant ability to adjust on the fly, offensively and defensivelly. I would suggest it's also myopic to discuss game coaching as a contibutor to yesterday's loss after witnessing the multiple defensive breakdowns, poor shooting, turnovers and multiple additional mental errors of the PLAYERS. It was a very poor showing by the PLAYERS yesterday. Still ... I have to admit I found myself wishing he would take a time out so he could get their attention in a bit more forceful manor ... i.e. ... do some serious butt chewing. The film breakdown will be very disappointing to watch for most of the players. Remarkable number of mental errors ... a disappointing lack of mental and physical intensity. That said, this team is still growing and each player will learn some small item that will make them better moving forward.
