  • SLU in the Valley

This would be an interesting team to have in the Valley. Granted they only provide basketball but still interesting.

If that happened I would hope for a strong push to at least rotate the MVC tourney to KC every other year.

        Not me!

For purely selfish reasons, I like the tournament in STL.

Driving 5+ hours each year to STL has become a routine and one I don't want to change.

Sorry, but I'm a bit spoiled by having it in STL and just like Nancy, I'll keep whining so I get things my way. 8)
Above all, make the right call.

Fixed it. I hope I did enough that you can see what I changed.

You misspelled the whiner's name, just a bit. I fix.

Do we want to double our pretentious fan bases that believes their Jesuit education entitles them to behave licentously? If we trade Creighton and get the post season tourney in KC it would be attractive.

Would St Louis really be sacrificing prestige?
Where does the A10 rank as a conference compared to MVC?

Prestige or lack thereof has little to do with this.

Majerus has not made any attempt to hide his dislike for long trips to UMass, URI and the holy grail of the A-10, Olean, NY aka St. Bonnie.

Being included w/Dayton & Xaxier is appealing, but the rest of the A-10 is nothing but long, uncomfortable road trips.

Would you relish a yearly trip to Fordham?
                      Richmond?
                      Or the aforementioned St. Bonnie?

                      I don't blame him one bit. 8)

It ranks 6th in conference RPI (MVC is 9th) and the top of their league is legit with Temple, Xavier, Rhode Island, Dayton, Charlotte and Richmond. They are all in the top 60 of the RPI.

Very reminiscent of the MVC in 2005-06. Maybe even stronger from a relative standpoint.

If memory serves, they're playing a little volleyball as well.

But that's why it's silly to bring "prestige" into the conversation. Historically, the conference RPI's of the MVC and A10 are basically a wash. One year the MVC can claim "prestige", the next year the A10 can do so.

And I vote no on a potential SLU Valley inclusion. We already have one too many pompous, self-righteous "Jesuit" institutions parading about as an academic big fish in a small pond (CU is not considered a research university, and therefore not judged amongst the same comparable peers as WSU, ISU Red, MSU, etc., nor is SLU). We don't need another in a conference otherwise mostly composed of medium-to-large, research-based, state universities. I'd take North Dakota over SLU in a heartbeat.

I like the idea, as it would boost the Valley's RPI most years. Adding Butler and ORU makes sense as well.
