  • Clevin Hannah

I watched the game on TV. Hannah is the man - he made a big shot to stop the run in the second half and a great steal and pass for a layup. He is solid bring the ball up and teams cannot foul him at the end of the game. How do we replace this position next year???

I'm a huge UNC fan (grew up in NC) and Hannah is better than any guard playing for the Heels. Love his attitude and his game.

Really, he has always been good but in the last 19 games, his talent has just crystallyzed.

My concern is that his replacement for next year, DW, only played one minute. Next year could spell trouble for us if things don't improve in our PG depth.

That's the big question mark going into next year, which potentially could be a HUGE season for us. This one is great and far from over, but we all know next year has the potential for GREATNESS. I am sure that HCGM and his staff are well aware of our need for a solid point guard.

Look at it this way, when recruiting, he now can go to that potential PG and say, "Did you watch the game last night? Do you see the weapons we have? YOU could be LEADING that team next season, or at least competing for the job." You would think that would be a pretty attractive offer to recruits, along with the staff's well-documented skill at persuasion.

Like being given the keys to a Ferrari... question is, who's qualified to drive?

Perfectly valid point and concern right now.

Counterpoint A: Gregg has yet to, even remotely, let us down in the recruiting department. Be patient.

                Counterpoint B: Enjoy the ride.

Well, it seems one of the most obvious PG recruiting targets is EO's teammate Marquis Carter.

I have no idea how good his defense is, but he looks like a big (6'4"), scoring PG that can also rebound and get to the free-throw line. His assist numbers are not eye-popping (about 5 a game) but his turnovers are, and not in a good way (3.5 a game).

The counter-argument to that is he could also be similar to two recent HCC PGs: Bobby Maze (8.2ppg, 3.2apg, 1.6tpg as a JR at Tennessee) and Darius Johnson-Odom (12.2ppg, 2.3apg, 1.7tpg at Marquette). Both of those guys could turn the ball over frequently, but seem to be doing better in high-level D1, possibly due to having better players around them.

TRCC does seem to lean on Carter to do everything. At least from the one game I saw. When he was out there was no flow and the team looked like they didn't know what to do. When he was in, they wanted him to do most everything. Some poor decisions were still made but who knows...
