Man o Man. Not sure where to start on this one. Just some of the observation from 6th row of left side student section. Refs really let us and them play with lots of contact in the first half. Second half completely different story. The very vast majority of calls that drew the ire of the student section and for a large part the entire crowd came from one referee only. Curtis Shaw!!! I thought the other two were not too bad. Higgins had one and 1 call I didnt agree with and I didnt really notice Thornley at all.
Ahelegbe and Koch, while both are good players, get away with more offensive fouls than anyone I have seen. They both just put the shoulders down and just bull rush their defenders. Never get called for it, so I dont fault them for continuing to do it.
There were several calls that seemed to go our way too though. Mainly on balls that were tipped out of bounds. Thats the way the game goes though.
I fully expected the shox to come out flat at half. Just our MO. They battled and didnt really get rattled down the stretch.
One of the loudest times of the game, if not this season came on the possesion where we got the to turn the ball over on a shot clock violation!! That really impressed me that the crowd really was digging the defense!!!
Finally, I will leave with this. As a couple of students behind me said it best. "We would win a national title. Yeah, if we had home court advantage through the tournament."
I completely agree wiht this statement. We seem to be able to compete with anyone at home. I am so glad that Koch arena is such a great home court advantage. 21 and 1 since the Creighton game last year at home. 25-3 overall at home since the beginning of last year.
Anyway, great game.!!! Crowd was great. Team was not perfect by any stretch but played good enough to beat the number 20 team in the country. I felt Northern Iowa should have been ranked a week ago. Sucks for them, that they will only have one week to enjoy thier ranking.Shocker fan since December 28th, 2005!

You are going to get a fair shake when he's calling your game and he is THE BEST I've ever seen. I never get mad, even when I think he blows a call, a)because he is a lot better than me and b)if it is a screwup, he'll make it right and it's highly unlikely he'll do it again.
John Higgins is head and shoulders the best official we get.

Both coaches managed a whale of a game tonight. UNI is so tough to scheme because they do so much but you know what? So do we.
A BIG factor in the game was the crowd. It was earsplitting at times. We forced UNI to call 2 or 3 timeouts they didn't want to and what that meant was NO, NONE, NO timeouts in the last 3 minutes of the game. As fans, we get to wear that one.
You'll get tired of me repeating this, but that was a whale of a basketball game.

I'd expect a pretty good write-up on The Mid-Majority tomorrow. We, the crowd, brought our A-game tonight.
And I finally got to chant someone off the floor this season! (I was on my way back from France during the Tech game) My voice is going to be trash tomorrow.
 :wsu_posters: :yahoo:

I think you have 3 posts, all negative.
Conspicuously absent from any posts this evening.....MTXE......hmmmm. Wonder how many posts if UNI had pulled it out?

Kudos to all of you who are fortunate enough to go every game you brought it tonight big time!!! I thought it was going to be a good night when I got to town and got a nice suprise of 2 seats to the left of the student section on row 9.
Does anyone know who that kid was that was dancing on the big screen and faux grabing at his crotch....that was just to much and everyone just went bonkers....To much fun!!!! I have few videos I took but missed Rays dunk...damn it. Thanks fellow shocker fans for a great evening.1/16/2010 on the "Screw at the Q" HCGM... " Ive never seen a foul parade like that...If you would of let me know it was going to be a foul parade I would of brought a different team" .... "dont talk to me about fouls....Ive got to go back and look at some tape... I have some thoughts but I need to look at the tape and then I will have something very strong to say"
