Unless we win the Valley regular season or tournament, don't hold your breath on us even getting a first teamer, much less POY. The Valley has not been that kind. Besides, we play team ball with good depth and our stats are well spread around. Not the individual glitz and big stats that usually garners 1st team and POY selections. The Valley felt obligated to give Miller the POY in 06 -- we had no other 1st or 2nd teamers that year.
Clevin has been 'quietly' and consistently improving while all of us have been focusing on Ellis, Murry, Stutz, and Kyles. I think it might be time to admit that the biggest star on our team is Clevin Hannah. This little guy can simply take over a game and he seems to do it at will (when we most need it).
Durley also does this but has some glaring deficiencies when he is not dominating (See: Cadillac'ing). When Clevin is not dominating from downtown, or floating tear-drop daggers over opposing centers, he is expertly commanding his Shocker ship down the narrow channel of success.
It all comes down to what the others around the MVC think. We all agree that WSU gets hosed year after year in the recognition categories. But I think the rest of the MVC likes hosing WSU year after year and I don't foresee it changing anytime soon. WSU could go undefeated, win a national championship and still not have more than one player on the 1st and 2nd teams combined.
The thing I find most amazing about Clevin, is that if he really wanted to, it seems like he could have a ridiculous PPG, like 30+. He put up 26 last night, and to me, it didn't even seem like was 'ballhogging' at all. What I love is that he cares more about doing what's best for the team and he doesn't really care about his stats, or making himself look better, he just cares about helping the team win.
