That don't show my breakaway speed!

Man can he fly.....when he "gets it", look out. He gave us a couple of very good minutes tonight. I hope he is on the right track because, damn.

My thought from hearing the coaches show was of the flashes into the potential of that length and speed at point. . Murry, Kyles & Mannigault putting it together at once would be awesome. Williams just makes me more optimistic.

That is the disturbing trend IMHO.
      Exactly
I'm copying someone else here, but I'd rather take my lumps at the free throw line and boards than getting killed by threes with the ability to throw Stutz, Durley, Blair and Ellis in at the 4-5.

      • I did not get to watch the game live, but did record it and watched it this morning. Perhaps my impression of the game was influenced by knowing the outcome in advance, but I was very pleased with this win.

I thought INS played very well and made numerous runs at the Shocks in the second half. Each time they made the run the Shocks stepped up with a couple of big shots to keep the Sycs at bay. Had to be a little frustrating for the Sycs but they just kept coming. Kudos to the Shocks for handling everyone of those runs in putting away another very nice ROAD win.

The wins at MSU and INS are very nice to have in our pocket. I think road MVC road wins in those two venues will be hard to come by.

Nice to see Kenny get a few minutes and to see him contribute in a positive way.

Now let's make it back-to-back Saturday night specials against Creighton.

        • I really liked the way we attacked the rim in the second half. DK, TM and Gabe just need to finish a higher pct of those chances.
I also thought 10 TO's for the game was positive especially in the 2nd half.

PS...Please DK no more finger rolls at the rim...DUNK th F**King ball.

The David Moss play was right in my lap.

Randy Burns had far more to do with the loss than David Moss did.

            • Some interesting paraphrased comments from the ISU game announcers:

There was a lot of praise for the Shockers as being the best team they had played and for being very athletic. Gave GM a nice accolade.

They had hoped to take advantage late in the game when all our starters were out except for TM. But we pulled out even further ahead when our subs were in and although disappointed, they commented favorably on our depth.

Near the very end when everyone was lined up for Clev (I believe) to shoot a FT, they commented that you can tell by just looking at them that our boys are very tired and the Shocks all have fresh legs.

And, yeah, they commented several times on our 50+ shooting percentage and hoped it would be less in the second half. Also commented on what they stated were at least five 3's shots that were made in the last five seconds of the shot clock when we couldn't find an open man or penetrate to the basket.

Lots of favorable comments on our overall size and of course CH.

All in all, I enjoyed listening to the opponent's announcers as one naturally get a different perspective. But overall, they were darn fair.

              • Some casual observations...

                1) I was laughing big time reading the comments about the officiating.

The irony is the InSU fans were complaining THEY were getting jobbed.
That's just confirmation they did a good job.

I will admit the intentional call was suspect, at best. Bob Staffen is a good official and not quite sure what he was thinking.

                2) No question InSU missed Lathan, but then again if he plays Crawford doesn't go "Larry Legend" last night.

                3) I told HCGM their play last night defined toughness. To support, I submit the following:

Gabe Blair was an absolute warrior last night. And when I say warrior, it's due to playing while major league sick. He was so weak, he didn't even warm up for the second half.
When Durley picked up his 2nd foul, it meant GB had to suck it up and play a lot more than planned. He met the challenge and did a lot more than just fill a spot.

TM is one tough kid, but his head was still buzzing when he went to the line and shot the FT.
Why he wasn't replaced is a mystery. He should have came out and rested until the second half. After halftime, he was his normal self.

All in all, a nice road win that sent the home crowd grumbling all the way to the BallyHoo (their local watering hole). 8)
Above all, make the right call.

                • One last item, what DW was thinking last night is a unknown to the human race.

I do know the HCGM 'pissed off meter' was in the stratosphere.

When the team came out for the second half, DW left his warm ups on and sat on the very end of the bench.

Even the walk ons sat closer to HCGM and had a better chance of seeing action.

I am hopeful the message was received and DW rights the ship.

He certainly can't say the message wasn't sent! 8)

                    • Hopefully, Gabe's illness doesn't spread through the team.

                      • ISU blue fans, dont have nothing to complain about, in the 1st half i believe we had got called for twice as many fouls as they did, and they might have missed a few travels on us late in the game, but that just the way it goes, most of the time it all evens out.

His contributions were spot on, especially considering the time and balance of the game.

I mentioned to RefChick they needed to get through the 12:00-8:00 period to the TV TO without losing the momentum.

His ability to run the floor (with Kyles making two kick ass passes) and beat his defender down the floor were critical. To be specific, he was running like a greyhound.

The real upside was his confidence level shot up, both on and off the floor.

Even after the game, he was still beaming in the locker room. 8)

                          • And there was a reason we were called for so many more fouls in the first half. We kept shooting from the perimeter and they kept getting in the paint. There will normally be a decent foul differential in those cases.
