  • NOW on January 20...

....seeing what you've seen in the past two games, do you think 7-1,6-2,5-3, or 4-4, in the conference?

I'm thinking 6-2 with only a loss at Creighton. I think WSU will handle ISU on the road, and PROBABLY give UNI their first loss...but I 'm thinking Creighton will be a different beast in Omaha.Like him or not, Altman is a salty coach.

This is the time of year that injuries begin to effect the W-L.

I'm afraid NI is pretty much a sure loss on the road and CU a distinct possibility. Going 7-1 would be . . . . . a momentous achievement.

This is the year that te Shox begin taking ownership o the Qwest. Give it a couple of years and hopefully we can call it CKA North.
The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.
We like to cut down nets and get sized for championship rings.

Every time I thought our athletic advantage would prove fatal to Northern Iowa, they proved me wrong. Each time they dismantled our game plan and surgically removed any advantages we had over them with careful, deliberate, mistake-free basketball. They are horrible to watch.. horribly effective.

I agree with you MTXE, in the half court Northern Iowa is tough.

Having said that, I saw them play Saturday against Illinois State and late in the game Illinois State pressed them and they did not handle it well.

Pressing Northern Iowa for 40 minutes is the only possible way to win, IMO.

Based on HCGM's comments on the Coaches Show yesterday, pressing for 40 minutes is unlikely. He recognizes the bad things that happen if they break the press. He will likely have another plan of attack.

Beating UNI at home is at best a 50-50 proposition. IMO

Kick em when they up - kick em when they down - kick em when they up - kick em all around.

I really hope you are right - Creighton is ripe for the picken. They looked awful - but I know how they are at home. :bball_spin:

does anyone think that if we win both of our games this week....that when we meet with UNI on next Tuesday, our game could be upgraded to one of the major ESPN networks (ESPN or ESPN2)? as we were leaving the arena on Saturday--the announcer said that our next home game will be televised by one of the ESPN networks--didnt mention ESPNU

Oops, you're right, Molly. Still, I would be quite happy with 7-1.

I was the doom and gloom guy that said this group of 5 games (last 2 and next 3) was going to be a defining time and that I was doubtful of better than 2-3 and even feared worse.

There are plenty of obstacles in the days ahead and I just hope the guys have indeed turned the corner. I do believe we have the talent to compete at the top....I believe we have the experience and the coaching...I am just not quite convinced we have the dedication and drive to compete as champions, yet. Win these next 3 and prove me wrong would be just fine imho.

MSU had their bubble burst last night with a lack of focus and desire in a game they had to win to get to the top. Tonight offers the same possibility for us. Will we embrace the challenge or back down?

Watching Bradley darn near upset UNI at home last night was shocking to me. Actually, the extremely high number of unforced turnovers by Bradley kept them from winning big. I don't read too much into that as I reallize that all teams have bad games, but I never expected Bradley to give UNI so much competition. Of course, UNI seems to be the ultra unusual team that is almost more successful on the road than at home.

wudrwu, very good point about focus, AND maybe to a larger degree, keeping confidence once it might be momentarily punctured.EVERYONE is going to lose sometimes, usually multiple times...how do you react to it?
