  • indiana state most surprising Valley team?

...11-5, maybe these guys are for real....would be a real nice win in terre haute....

In watching their game yesterday with Evansville, I was trying to figure out, is ISU that good, or is EU that bad? Probably a little of both, but ISU does appear to have some pretty decent athletes and shot makers. I am much more worried about our game with them this week after seeing them yesterday.

Most surprising award probably goes to Missouri State.

After watching the teams of the Valley play I have come to the conclusion that no team passes the ball like the SHOX do. Most of the time they look for the assist and not the quick shot from outside or the dribble penetration and shoot. I really like the way the SHOX spread it around.

SWOMO is the most surprising team by far. But ISU has some decent tools to work with and will knock off a few teams better than UE.

Without Latham, I would be stunned if Missouri State lost to Indiana State at either location.

Coach McKenna does a nice job. Harry Marshall is really good, and they have some good solid role players. Without Kelly though, they are a 5-10 team and we should not lose to them.

I expect Dana will give Kevin everything he can on the scout (in fact I promise he already has) to help the Trees win. I also think this is why we kept things pretty close to the vest on Saturday.

This is the next step in our maturation process. Git'r'dun.

In St is better than most thought, even without Kelly. Nevertheless, they are short on height (sorry about that) as the bigs they have don't see a lot of time.

Also, they are 3-2 right now, but they haven't play one game against UNI, Ill St, Mo St, or WSU.

Using the MVC tie breaker point thingy majiggy. 20 for road win 19 for home win against #1 team 18/17 for #2 ...

Indiana State has played the easiest schedule by far. They have played in games that would have giving them only a total of 28 points. The next two closest are UNI and WSU with 44 and 45 point schedules. They have not played a team better than 2-3 in the valley.

The number of points earned / total possible / record for each team:

                  UNI 44 / 44 (5-0)
                  WSU 31 / 45 (4-1)
                  Il State 29 / 59 (3-2)
                  MSU 22 / 59 (3-2)
                  SIU 21 / 57 (2-3)
                  BU 17 / 56 (2-3)
                  In State 12 / 28 (3-2)
                  DU 8 / 54 (1-4)
                  CU 5 / 56 (2-3)
                  EU 0 / 67 (0-5)

That would explain why WSU averages the most assists-per-game in the Valley.

I've noticed how good our passing is as well. We don't make alot of stupid passes either. This is a great thing to see in contrast to HCGMs first year and a half in which I couldn't tell if we were running an offense at all. A gentleman did call in to the post game show on Saturday and he stated that he had been watching the Shockers since Cleo Littleton was there and the game he watched yesterday had the best offensive flow of any game he'd EVER seen. That was one hell of a compliment whether he knows basketball or not. I do enjoy watching this team play!
