  • You could see P's T coming a few posessions before he got it. He continued to have words with Janssen and you could tell Janssen had had enough. I wasn't surprised one bit when he got it and had kept my eye on him.

    • One should add that Dana didn't get the chance to enjoy his 400th career win at our expense.

      • Creighton knew Wichita State would come out swinging at the start of Saturday's game at Koch Arena.

What the Bluejays didn't anticipate was that the Shockers would land the knockout punch in the first 3½ minutes.

          • Marshall enjoys this version of one-nine

Marshall did his share of complaining after the Bluejays won the last meeting between the teams on Booker Woodfox's basket at the buzzer in the Valley tournament quarterfinals last March.

Woodfox game-winner came after he took an inbounds pass with 1.9 seconds to play. Although television replays indicated that Woodfox got his shot off in time, Marshall argued that Woodfox did not. Marshall steered clear after Saturday's win when asked if the controversial ending played any factor in motivating his team.

His only comment? “As long as it's one-nine, I'm going to enjoy this one. I'll stop enjoying it at one-ten.''

            Saturday was Jan. 9 (one-nine).

So typical of CU. When confronted with factual evidence, they still don't get it.

Ditto to Sub's view on Stinnett.

Between smacking the bottles off press row and jawing with everyone within a 2 mile range, he was destined to get whacked.
Janssen had listened to enough of his crap and when PS turned toward him and mouthed "This is bullshit" Janssen's PS fun bucket reached it's limit.

rjl mentioned earlier any coach wanting PS is essentially nuts as he doesn't add anything of value to a team. It's a valid observation and the immaturity factor creates far more negative effects than anything he might potentially add.

However, DA hitched his wagon to PS 3 years ago and now it's too late. 8)
Above all, make the right call.

              • Stinnet

Didn't Stinnet pull some other kind of a stunt at the WSU game with Creighton here 2 years ago when he was a frosh? I vaguely remember him doing something odd then, too.

You mean punting the basketball and yet NOT getting a technical for it?

                  • Punting

So, my memory is correct then! And, I think he punted the ball into the studen section, if memory serves me correctly.

                    New Subj: Hand checking

I read a quote in the Eagle sports page today from MVC Commissioner, Doug Elgin, about how they have been able to package many games via a Tues-Wed & Sat-Sun format which thereby enables them to attract many high tier officials to ref MVC games. I generally thot yesteray’s game was pretty well refereed. However, there is an exception:

In the 2nd half, the Creighton player guarding Clevin Hannah had his hands all over him, and on one occasion, held out his arm clear across the front of Clevin Hannah’s body and impeded the direction he wanted to go. If that’s not hand checking, I don’t know what is! The official was standing just a few feet away from the play & was looking directly at it, but didn’t call anything. He got an earful from me, and I’m sure he heard it, too. So, what comprises hand checking?

I don't know, but our guys were pretty phyisical at times as well and didn't get called.

I don't notice WSU hand checking when a player has slowed down. What they consistently get a foul called on them for is when they are running full speed beside someone and they bump them or they try to reach in. I think Blair & Murry both got called for that in yesterday's game. For awhile, DW got called a lot for bumping players while running beside them, but he's quite doing that lately.

                        • As an oldtimer, I thought yesterday's game was too physical, but times have changed.

I find it hard to believe that no one mentioned his greeting to press row? A few minutes before he was given the T he ran down press row and knocked everyones drinks off of the table. There was no need for him to be even close to being over there. All the action was down on our end of the court at the time. The guys over there seemed pretty upset about the whole thing and talked to the ref's. about it during the next time out. I figured the T was pretty quick because of that outbreak, kinda of act like a fool me once same on me but twice well shame on you.
That wouldn't surprise me if it were to be true.

I wonder if his own mother likes him.
I doubt she does, why else would she let him go to creighton.

                            • Some interesting stat tidbits. Both teams shot 17 free-throws but the Shocks drained 5 more. Creighton out rebounded us by 1 which is somewhat disappointing because I thought we would gain an advantage here. Both teams had 14 turnovers. Creighton shot 4 more field goals than the Shocks but we made 1 more than them. Both teams had 5 steals. Thus we shot the ball better and our teamwork was superior as we compare our 16 assists to their 7. Our defense seem to keep them out of their comfort zone.
Shocker basketball will forever be my favorite team in all of sports.
