I got robbed from winning the last game prediction thread - must've been a technicality - so I'm dialing this one in close.

    Beast of a game:

    JTBeastley 62
    Yogi&Bubu 59

    It ain't gonna be no pik-a-nik !

I usually always pick the Shocks to win, but I think we lose a close one. Maybe by picking us to lose, they'll actually end up winning.

      Shockers 69
      Bears 72

I "usually" "always" -- how do you usually always? :)

Did I hear Coach correctly on his show that the team was busing into Springfield? What happened to the charters? If we've run out of money and need to raise more for this team to travel the way they should -- then I say let's get moving and raise it.

I doubt money is the issue. I believe the team only charters part of the time and I'm sure they choose to charter to the further destinations. I'm willing to bet they bus to Omaha also.

The same way I rarely never pick them to lose.

They did travel by charter last year to Springfield.

Minutes over the last 5 games, season PPG, (S)starter:

                Leonard (S) 6'1" - 35, 36, 37, 38, 37 - 36.6 mpg - 13.2 ppg

                Mallett (S) 6'3" - 35, 35, 34, 39, 33 - 35.2 - 10.0

                Weems (S) 6'6" - 34, 23*, 27, 35, 15* - 26.8* - 15.1

                Fuehrmeyer 6'1" - 16, 22, 27, 35, 25 - 25.0 - 4.1

                Creekmore (S) 6'9" - 21, 22, 16, 22, 22 - 20.6 - 6.9

                Patterson 6'11" - 18, 26, 20, 25, 14 - 20.6 - 7.4

                Pickens (S) 6'4" - 14, 18, 11, 9, 17 - 13.8 - 3.7

                Ricks 6'1" - 13, 5, 6, 10, 7 - 8.2 - 4.4

                Jones 6'5" - 9, 5, 10, 2, 10 - 7.2 - 1.8

                * Weems in foul trouble those games

To be effective, the Bears need their big 3 to play a LOT of minutes. It appears that they play a 3 guard lineup most of the time. If they continue this, I like our player match-ups. Keep fresh legs against those 3 and play smart D.

If they try to go big more than normal (Creekmore/Patterson/Weems), I think Creekmore and Patterson will wear down fast against our 4 bigs and Weems at the 3 would see Murry, Kyles, and Hatch. Hannah/Williams would have to take on Leonard, and Murry/Kyles on Mallett.

I believe we have the advantage athletically and with our depth. It will be our mind set that will determine the game.
I think this shows that we need Williams or Manigault to show up and have a great game. If he does it will keep Hannah and Williams fresh and that would wear down the Bears. I think if Williams or Manigault play well that will make it a lot easier for the Shockers to win.

Good point. Actually, given the Bears size, Manigault, and his reach, could give quick blows at possibly 4 positions.

I agree with you Shocktalk. I am a big fan on KM and his length and speed. If he can go out and defend and not be a human turnover machine than that would be a huge success.

                          Several things.......

1)We aren't going to "wear down" the Bears. If anything, they are even deeper than we are.

2)We're busing to mix it up.....my guess is the coaches are trying to get the guys' attention and make a point of what it takes to win on the road.

3)I doubt VERY seriously we bus to Omaha. Coach doesn't want to spend anymore time there than he has to.

4)It is SO passed time for this program to win a game like this, it isn't funny, in fact its disgusting.

So you're saying you'd take their second 5 over ours? I don't know about the wear down thing, but I feel we have good depth in all the match-ups.

Persosnally, I'd take Durley, Stutz, Blair, Ellis over Weems, Creekmore, Patterson. I know their guards/SF are very good, but still Murry, Hannah, Kyles, Williams, Hatch, Manigualt against Leonard, Mallett, Fuehrmeyer, Pickens, Ricks, Jones shouldn't be a disadvantage for the Shocks.

I wish we had Weems. We could use a 48% 3 point shooter. Time to call up the ghost of Nick Rogers for a win in Springfield.

What leads some of you to believe that Manigualt could play a pivotal/important/positive role in this game given that he has had very little playing time lately? It might be a lot to ask of Manigault. It is a road game against a very good opponent.

At this point, CGM obviously has much more confidence in Williams as the 9th man and I suppose he has his reasons.
