I just wish I could read the Preferred Health System bar at the top that gives the score, the shot clock and the game clock. I can read all of it except the SHOT CLOCK. I think it has red numbers but for me it is almost impossible to read - at least at first glance. If I stare at it long enough I can usually tell what it says but by that time the play is going the ohter way and I've missed it. That's the only thing I would like different. If someone knows someone (obviously I don't) maybe they could mention that the shot clock numbers are very hard to read and maybe we could put them in a different color or leave them read but make the numbers darker and thicker-- or am I in the minority here?

Just on cox...that's why its cox22. It's the only advantage Cox holds over ATT right now IMO. While I love the Shox, I hate Cox enough to go watch the game elsewhere.

You're exactly right. Spot on. I assume you meant "hate" in your last sentence, not "had".

WSU athletics has got to negotiate a new tv deal in the future. Our games have to be on local tv. Whether it's KSN, KAKE, or KWCH, or some other local flavor that more can access, more Kansans watching the game is a good thing.

I have Cox right now, but it's just too expensive. I need a cheaper alternative.

As a satellite subscriber I share your frustration. To catch the games on KN22 we have to visit a family member in Hutch, which is OK because I know she likes having us visit, but I still feel awkward asking all the time and it's more inconvenient than staying at home.

I understand that KN22 reaches a broader portion of the state but I wonder if it really gives WSU more publicity than KWCH. Are casual or non-fans not in the Wichita viewing area actually finding and watching the games on 22? Making it available to them doesn't mean they are tuning in.

It is difficult for the broadcast stations to air the games for several reasons: 1. The game, in many cases, replaces network programming. 2. The cost of producing a game is very high. 3. (guessing here) I don't think that they sell the advertisements needed to cover costs. There is more $ from bigger audiences that tune-in to network programs. So, like most things, it comes down to $. 4. Stations invest a LOT into local news coverage and syndicated shows and little on other types of programming.

Cox is a big enough company with more resources than one television station. When they don't sell the advertisements they promote themselves.
"If you're going to do it, you're going to do it right," athletic director Jim Schaus said. "If we're going to put 'Wichita State' across our chest, then every team is going to matter."

That's all fine, but KU found a way to contract with KSN in Wichita to air games this season. Don't tell me it can't be done.

I'm not asking for WSU to give up the contract with Cox, but maybe find another partner (AT&T??) that is increasing it's market share dramatically. Make them compete against each other.

I don't know the answers, but a little creativity might go a long way.

How about going to FSN like K-State did? Their games are always on the FSKC channel that I have on DirecTv, yet I can't watch a single WSU game because Cox isn't even available to me where I live, 30 miles from Wichita.

Asking Cox to partner with AT&T would be like asking Boeing to sell Airbus planes.

I never said that Cox and AT&T should partner, but that WSU should partner with both. Use one against the other, then supplement with another package through local tv, other cable stations, etc. The more diverse the total package, the better off the fanbase will be.

Also, Time Warner Cable has its own sports production company based in Kansas City (Metro Sports). I think they are highly under-utilized in airing more Shocker athletics throughout Kansas.

Actually, isn't Metro Sports the group that produces the Shocker games on KWCH and KN22? They just use KWCH and Cox to air the games is my understanding.
