This is truly an exercise in futility. My first team would be Stallworth, Carr, Wiley, Armstrong (Jabali) and Jamie Thompson (best pure shooter we ever had.) Second team would be Levingston, McDaniel, Bowman, Sherrod and Bruton. Other three scholarship players would be Elmore, Ron Harris and Bobby Wilson (long time career in NBA.) The problem with this list is leaving out the likes of Greg Carney, Cheese, Van Eman, Littleton, Kelley, Moore and others. I guess I'm just thankful we have a coach intent on recruiting new players who will make this task more difficult.

I do believe Fridge averaged around 8 and 8 in his one season as a Shocker.

The one problem with the "All-Retired Jersey" team is that there are 4 forwards on that team. Armstrong and Thompson were also small forwards (although Thompson could play SG). I don't remember seeing any of them play while at WSU, but someone has to bring the ball across half-court.

If you are going to keep players in their true position:

PG: Pete, Carney, Bruton
SG: Sherrod...lil help please (Perez, Evans?)
SF: Armstrong, Thompson, Johnson, Cooper
PF: Carr, McDaniel, Stallworth, Littleton, Levingston
C: Elmore, Wiley, Bowman (I get these three confused statistically and by era)

Although the names are familiar, I don't know much about Van Eman, Moore, and Heller.

I certainly don't recall Cleo Littleton as a power forward, Wasn't he only about 6'3"?

A player's natural position and what they played are two different things.

Armstrong and Perez were natural guards, but due to their rebounding sense and team's personnel, both played more forward. Both were excellent swing men.

During the Carr years, we really didn't play with a natural SF. Levingston played a lot of C his junior year.

With a stronger C and PF, Evans would have played more SF, but we needed more rebounding and Perez played that position.

Littleton played SF, but today, at 6'3", he'd be a SG.

I believe Ernie Moore was a PG, Van Eman may have been more of a combo guard.

Yes, Littleton was only 6-3, but he played both PF and C for the Shockers. He could be listed as a SF certainly.

Armstrong was the "biggest 6-2 guy in the ABA" according to one sorce. He was a guard in the ABA, but played forward at WSU. I wouldn't argue putting Jabali at SG and Littleton at SF, but some of the lists above were starting five forwards.

Its just for fun, but I for one would like to have a PG.

Joe Griffin was the best PG I've seen in a Shocker uniform.

Then Prez, you have'nt seen about 20 guys. Matt Breuer was much better. Joe didn't even stay four years largely because the coach rightfully didn't think Joe was as good as Joe thought he was.
