Why is this guy still around? Is it like the WWE you have to have the bad guy? Every game he is in quickly become more about him than the game on the court.

Did Hightower ever call small college games in this area in the late 70s? Seems like I remember yelling at him at some Newman, Friends, Emporia games back then.

I recall him officiating early season Three Rivers CC games as late as the mid-90s. I don't remember him being that animated though. Also remember him having a few cold ones at the Turkey Trot Lounge one night when my band was playing there.....

The guy needs to retire. If you watch any game he is officiating he always tries to be the center of attention. I have never seen him ref a game without lecturing the coaches on the sidelines. It would be interesting to get coaches opinions of him once he is out of basketball but no one wants to call him out.

I don't think he's allowed to. Ed is a member of the SIU Board of Trustees. Mostly because he is a graduate of SIU-Edwardsville. He's not a big fan of the Carbondale campus.

One of the few advantages of being a "non BCS" team is you don't have to watch that ego-manic, horse's rear call one of your games.

He worked a WSU @ MSU game about 4 years ago. He stunk and brought attention to himself.
