  • Local Talent - TT Game - December 19

Band, if this topic belongs on the recruiting module, please move it.

Does anyone know the names, high schools and positions of the local area high school players, who will be guests of WSU for tonight's game?

    Thank you.

Well I know that unfortunately Ellis and Wessel won't be in attendance.

Alright, do you know who the recruits are who will be at the game on Saturday? But that could be "Premium" information!!!

1:02 No. I will have to check that out today or tomorrow. I would suspect any Wichita or local kid who is on WSU's radar got an invitation. Heights plays in KC that night, so that rules out two possibilities.

I would suspect Ellis is at the KU game.... :(
Marge: The plant called and said that if you don't come in tomorrow, don't bother coming in Monday.
      Homer: WOOHOO! Four day weekend.

I really hope East junior Ja'ln Williams is there. He scored 28 last night against Southeast.

Yesterday, Coach Marshall fairly gushed about local players, who will be in attendance.

His comments implied that there would be quite a few in attendance.

Yeah I heard that. Seems like there were a good selection he really liked from the 2011 class if I remember correctly.

City league talent from the Sophomore (2012) class includes:

              Perry Ellis - 6-8 F, Heights
Gavin Thurman - 6-5 PF, SE
              Nathan Jackson - 6-3 G/F, East
              Jalen Love - 5-9 G, East
              Spencer Gaels - 6-7 C, NW
              June Johnson - 6-2 G/F, NW
              Craig Nicholson - 5-6 G, NW
              Terrance Moore - 6-0 G, Heights
Kevin Gunter - 6-5 PF, SE
              Trayte Boswell - 6-2 G, Kapaun
Austin Griffith - 6-5 PF, Kapaun
Daylin Thomas - 6-4 PF, West

Not all of the above are D-I talent, but all are worth watching their development. If WSU plays well for the next one-and-a-half years, we may be able to bring in significant home grown talent. We'll see.

2011 class is juniors. 2012 is the sophomores you mentioned.

A lot of stars are lining up indicating this could be a very memorable game. We have a potent Shocker team hosting a top-20 Big 12 team that has a chance of being slightly overrated. One of the most exciting games of recent memory was a Florida State NIT game where we lost. This game could be all of that plus a win at the end.

This game will more than likely be a valuable recruiting tool for all recruits considering WSU regardless of their sport. The WSU athletic department would be well served to either have special instructions or a couple extra camera men for tonight's game, with the sole purpose of providing enough quality film to compose a first class "video introduction" to all our potential recruits.

WSU should invest heavily in promoting its greatest assets: Koch Arena and the fans that fill it. This game should showcase those assets nicely.
