When I was a kid I used to play a game with the page in the media guide listing all players ever by number. I'd try to name all the #5's, #12's, whatever. Now the miracle of technology allows me to share that fun with you.
I don't have access to a media guide right now, but if someone has historical rosters going back further than this I'd be happy to update it going back to probably 1990 or so. There's an upper limit on the number of entries.
If you've never played Sporcle before, it's really easy--just type your answers in the box and it will automatically accept them if you're right; there's no need to press enter or anything. Spelling counts, of course, but you only need to put in last names.
BTW Sporcle is unbelievably addictive. I have spent days of my life there. I won't say wasted, becuase it really is a good tool for memorizing lists of things--all the countries in the world, 7 deadly sins, Beatles albums, whatever. There are quizzes for everything.
