WSU student to work for NASA

I mean, it's no Livestock Manure Management Conference or anything.. but it will have to do.
Mallory is great, she was one of the young students who worked with me and some other undergrads on our Microgravity research project my Senior year. I hadn't heard that news, very cool to see that.

But I'm sure you know, she's actually one of many WSU students to go work for NASA. I can already think of 3 in Houston, and 2 in California that I knew during my undergrad work.

OK, enough OT discussion, back to bashing the trolls.

.....but, statistically speaking, you miss 99% of the shots you do take.

I remember the first year after Perkins axed the B program at WSU. Someone came out with a ranking of every D1 football team in the nation. It had WSU above KSU in the rankings.

Someone sent a letter to the guy who did the rankings and explained that WSU did not have a FB program. The guy replied that he was aware of that and stood behind his rankings and that WSU (without a FB team) could beat KSU on any given Saturday.

Even though WSU no longer has a FB program, I believe WSU has scoreboard on KSU in FB. Other than Bill Snyder, KSU has historically had a worse FB program than WSU.

Let's just agree that urban centers draw bigger crowds. For example, at UMKC, well, there were more shocker fans present than KC fans, so, well, then the Cleveland State game, uh, well, you could hear a pin drop in there. Perhaps Wichita is just that much larger than KC or Cleveland than I thought.

Some good stuff! I always feel sorry for Mizzou fans since they really have just MSU to diss. Here in Kansas we have 3 large schools that can have at each other like this thread.

I do get a kick out of how you guys make fun of "rural" people. I do understand somewhat as I grew up in KC but don't forget that agribusiness is far and away the top business in our state. And if farming is such a low occupation that only dolts want to do why is your mascot a Wheat Shock?

For that matter why do KU fans always "wave the wheat" after a TD if farming is such a low occupation?

Hell growing up in KC I considered Wichita to be pretty damn "rural" - it's all in perceptions.
Good luck against Tech - now that's rural! Ever been to the Texas panhandle?

The rural-bashing has always bugged me, too. I grew up and live in a small town. I still remember the influx of grain trucks every summer, lining up for blocks at the elevator. I now work for an agri-business software company, so those "rural" people provide my livelihood, as well as put food on the grocery store shelves.

I also call several of them friends.

I don't go for the rural bashing (other than in good natured fun) since I grew up in a VERY small town (pop. 120). As far as agribusiness goes, last time I checked I still like to eat.

I married a farmer's daughter so I don't dare make fun of any rural types.

                    • And after being in the NYC area last year, Kansas City is about as rural as it gets.

                      Yep, all perception indeed.

                          • I grew up on a farm 7 miles from the nearest town. I don't believe anyone has ever found me trashing rural people. Although I might hang a bit of stuff on my brothers (both attended KSU) for their demonstrated prowess in chicken judging. Seriously, they were on a team that won a national chicken judging competition. I guess someone has to be able to spot the traits that let us enjoy firm thighs and succulent breasts.
