I loved it the year Huggies was hired. KSU went on this enormous season ticket sales drive and sold 7,000 season tickets to see the GRCOATTM (Greatest Recruiting Class of All Time).
Then they allocated the remaining 6,000 seats to the students and put out a press release saying they had sold out Bramlage on season ticket sales.
That's probably the only clever thing that athletic administration did.
KSU football/basketball student tickets aren't free like at WSU. $245 for GA and $330 for ICAT. It's a combo ticket for both sports though they have started to sell student football only tickets now for $150.
Student tix at WSU aren't really free either. Student fees specifically for the arena renovations, to the tune of several million dollars over several years, is the price paid. So ours aren't technically giveaways either.

General public season tickets are $320 or $390 and donations are required for the better seats and fr all chairbacks.
The students are NOT giveaways.
WSU students helped fund the renovation of the roundhouse. It was built into student fees until 2011. Therefore while not actually charging for the student seats, the students pay for their tickets in fees per credit hour.

There were some positive comments that I read about WSU, but when they started talking about the fans being KU or KSU fans, they weren't talking to anyone that posts here! Sure there are some folks that are indifferent to everything in their life, you see them going 50 mph in a 70 speed limit highway, and they are pretty much oblivious to everything around them. I'm sure I can take a stroll through Manhattan on any given day and find some donkey wearing purple that'll say they are pleased with the hiring of Turner Gill, so just stop.
KSU has a good team and are playing well, but don't start the power trip here. I remember them sucking around the time were were. I remember freaking Chad Elstun torching them one game. Chad Elstun! Jason Perez whipped them on their own court reigning treys from half-court on their ass. And their attendance is an embarrassment when it's lean up there.

You guys are looking at this all wrong. Competing athletically in the BigXII isn't like competing in the MoVal. Millions upon millions of dollars are needed for things like corrupt football contracts, incompetent AD's, and University Presidents with hands in the athletic cookie jar. It really is a testament to the longstanding loyalty and support of the KState student body that they don't have to pay more.
BCS was not wrong. KSU cannot just allocate tickets to students and call it a "sellout", each ticket actually has to be sold.
I'm sure everyone of you on this board would drive 2 hours (each way) to watch WSU v. Alcorn, or drive 150 miles on snow to watch WSU v. USC Upstate. Yah, proximity has nothing to do with attendance.
