Coach's Show - 12/14/09

Here are a few things that were mentioned on the coach's show this evening.

1. Texas Tech ranking
Coach Marshall said they deserved their number 16 ranking.

2. Recruits
Coach Marshall said there will be a number of recruits at the game Saturday. He said that if we can get a recruit on campus and show him our facility and program, that the "return is unbelievable and really high".

3. Technical Fouls
It was mentioned that the administrative technical that was called was really a non-administrative techical.

A caller, who said he used to officiate games, talked about the different types of technical fouls and what technical fouls counted against a player as a personal foul.

Coach Marshall related his first year here when we played Drake and PJ dunked the ball and got called for a technical foul. He said that PJ had 3 fouls at the time and after the technical foul, Gregg said he had asked the referees and scorer's table whether that technical counted as a personal foul. When they said it did, he had to sit PJ on the bench from about the 8 minute mark to the 4 minute mark, supposedly with 4 fouls.

They later come to Gregg with around 4:30 minutes left in the game and say, "Oh, by the way PJ only has 3 fouls."

4. Texas Tech players
Coach Marshall said they looks like Murry, Blair, Ellis, and Kyles but bigger and more athletic.

What happens when you get 2 or more Technical Fouls called on the Bench?

The way I understand it rose, is that 3 any level Technicals on bench will get coach tossed. 2 gets ya a sit down and STFU.

I always thought 2 and the coach was tossed. In fact, I'm almost positive.

However, I dunno if that counts "administrative" technicals.

The way I've been told is that if there is two and one is administrative, you are then placed on double secret probation for the rest of the game.

I honestly think the only person that knows the answer to this question about technical fouls is probably Matilda since he just recently experienced this situation with Dana. Unfortunately, Matilda won't tell us what the answer is because it is premium content.

I waded into the NCAA Men's and Women's basketball rules today to learn all about technical fouls.

After about 10 minutes, I waded out.
