I didn't assume anything. I said IF he wasn't rude, then he has a right to be treated with respect. Everybody attacked Metalkatz so I provided an alternative view in light of the fact that we have few facts. Several have mentioned that Mrs. Marshall has a "fiery" personality. That can mean many things.

Metalkatz would have to have been a very big jerk to warrant the head coach's wife "going crazy" and using profanity in public, especially in front of her children. It may not have happened that way, but if it did, it was classless.
I applaud you for thinking outside the box and wondering "what if the thing least likely to happen actually happened?"

However, then taking that and running with it, postulating some fairly derogatory sentences concerning a public figure that all on this board seem to have a fairly great impression of, appears to have grown less out of a desire for discussion and more out of a desire for contrariness.

It would have taken one sentence to put forth your theory. And you took it.

But then you added several sentences which were formulated with the assumption that your theory was correct.

Yes, most posts in this thread have been written in assumption of a correct theory. However, all but yours have at least concerned the facts as a basis, and those facts came from the person you're trying to defend.
The truth will set you free. But first, it will piss you off.

Correct. But I'm rarely a man of few sentences these days. And what fun would it have been for me to just line gayly up behind the rest of the lynch mob and tell Metalkatz he should just get bent?

To be brutally honest with you, I chose the 'darker' position on the subject due to the multiple references of Mrs. Marshall being "fiery". That's a very subjective term that can be both positive and negative. If fiery means she loves to yell and holler at Shocker games, then more power to her. But if fiery means she can be a bit of blank, then I won't make excuses for her.. especially regarding guests of fans that paid a lot for their seats. Mrs. Marshall's seats are being paid for by the fan who graciously lent his seats to the person who was allegedly called an a-hole.

I can assure you, unless it was the most extreme of situations, Gregg Marshall would prefer his wife not going 'ballistic' on fans -especially the high-paying fans. It's just not good business.

This is an important point. Good insight from DTSB.

Another point: The family of a coach hears a lot of BS at games and no doubt Mrs. Marshall has heard some pretty harsh stuff over the years. This will put her on alert at basketball games. When you kids are in the mix, it is a whole new ball game. Coaches wives will have a short fuse for abuse and will suffer no fools.

OT a bit: Anybody see the episode of Seinfeld where Elaine attended a Yamkee game in corporate seats while wearing a Mets hat?

        That is all.

I've written a few replys in this thread, and then before hitting "submit", changed my mind in that responding is just not worth it.

I've had dinner with the Marshall clan on more than one occasion and can say from personal experience the entire family is 100% class. Lynn goes out of her way to be extremely friendly with anyone related to the program no matter who you are. I haven't actually sat with Lynn at the games, but from what I've seen she gets as worked up and emotionally involved as any wife of a coach in the country. I definitely can see her getting pissed at "KSU fans" telling WSU fans to move out of the Athletic department seats.

It seems like this thread should now be moved to the "Off Topic" forum, because it has certainly veered way off-topic - 1/2 page of comments regarding the original poster's question and now almost 3 pages of other stuff.

It would also seem to me that discussing the coach's wife or other family members should be out-of-bounds for ShockerNet.

Folks, we have overstepped the bounds of decorum, IMO.

                I'd like to clarify something.

Wearing KState clothes (or KU etc) to a WSU game IS rude, plain and simple.

Lynn Marshall is one of the nicest people I've ever had the pleasure of meeting, period. Personally, I LOVE that she gets excited at the games....I wish more fans were like her.

It's college basketball, are we not allowed to have a little fun?

Lastly, I'm DONE with the stupid, unwarranted and veiled attacks made towards the first family. Obviously I don't have any MOD rights, but if you want every single post you make to be followed up with a personal attack from me, just keep it up.

I'm not in the least bit surprised Matty P/Ann Turgeon/D-bag took the position he did. rji was right in the fact that he made a lot of assumptions out to be fact and rode with the "10%".

The fact is wearing other team colors behind the WSU BENCH is where you lose a lot in your fight. I would hope alcohol would have played a part in that line of thinking for wearing that form of attire in those type of seats.

I can't help but go back to the Roy incident with this, because it's somewhat comparable. For all of those bagging on Roy, what do you think of this situation?

Did I miss the couple getting escorted physically from the building?

Talk about jumping on the 10%.

Especially if you don't want 10,500 (accounting for 6 KC Shox, MTXE, and others) fans jumping all over you with their yellow colored glasses, don't wear your K-Shate gear to the Shocker game, and when there don't be an @$$h@t, start shate, and then expect everyone to jump to your defense when Mrs. Marshall lays into you!!

                    Easy solution to dumb problem.

What I can't figure out is why would anyone WANT to wear another team's shirt, hat, etc. to a WSU game. This goes for your kids as well. I've seen parents walk in with two kids in tow both wearing a KU T-shirt or sweatshirt. The parents should know better. If you don't want to wear Shocker colors and logo, go plain, but don't come in wearing a Texas, Oklahoma, Okla State, KU, KSU or ANY OTHER school's logo and colors. It is just plain classless. I've seen it at the baseball games as well. It's fine if we are playing one of those other teams, but not otherwise.

I have friends who are great fans of WSU and KU. They have shirts, etc. for both and would never dream of wearing a WSU logo to a KU game, or vice versa.

                        Agreed.

Actually taking your time and going out of you way to put on another school's colors when neither team is representing that team is probably one of the Top 3 dumb things someone could do when attending a college athletic event.

                        Makes absolutely ZERO sense.

                          True.

But if someone handed some of you guys some really good seats to see KU play Texas this season, are you saying you wouldn't be really tempted to wear a Shocker shirt to the game?

Been out of town with family this weekend and just getting caught up. While what metalkatz alleges happened in a public venue, since it is just his word against a side we likely won't hear from, its time to lock this thread and move on. We've got plenty to get revved up for come Saturday night.
