I have been critical of this hack and if he wanted to blow me up (for example) for something I did, fine, but you have always been fair and gracious while providing great information for all to see without even a thanks from most.

I want to know if I'm missing something before I go all postal on this cheap, lying, no-good, rotten, four-flushing, low-life, snake-licking, dirt-eating, inbred, overstuffed, ignorant, blood-sucking, dog-kissing, brainless, dickless, hopeless, heartless, fat-ass, bug-eyed, stiff-legged, spotty-lipped,

I'm pretty sure most of what you can find on CU on Rivals is available to any Rivals subscriber. I doubt Matty has much inside info that isn't common knowledge. Also, I think Trop and some others have contacts elsewhere thru Twitter and other means to get info. Trop does a great job and I'm 100% sure he's not stealing info from Hack P at BJC

I don't have any details on this situation.

But I will say that if someone was getting information that is only available from a subscription-only site and republishing it without permission, that would at a minimum be a violation of the site's Terms of Service (at least, I can't imagine a subscription content provider not having that in it's ToS). I suppose it could additionally be a violation of copyright.

Trop says it was posted on rivals as a free article and accessed it that way. @sportstalkmatt says it was on his premium board:

To which Trop, offering to assist @sportstalkmatt in keeping him "Premium" info only to insiders, replied:

Matt, it's still on your free message board, available to not only myself, but non-Rival subscribers.

@sportstalkmatt then called Trop a thief and told him to stay off their board.

There were a couple other comments, like referencing Trop as a Shocker fan and what would you expect and loser **** like that, but all in all it was
@sportstalkmatt being a douchebag cuz he's an idiot and doesn't know how to post premium info to the premium board on his premium website for his premium fans.

No I didn't steal it off his pay board. It was on the free recruiting board available to all, even non-subscribers to Rivals. I indeed did not reference him on the Tweeter post. I didn't see a need since it was on a free message board. Didn't think about that really.

I think as he finally got it through his skull that I didn't take it from the pay board he started emphasising that I didn't give him credit. However he continued to call me a thief and that I stole it. And of course, that's to be expected from Shocker fans.

When I saw the post on the free board I thought he was it was intentionally placed there but apparently it was a mistake on his part or Rivals. I figured he decided to give some nice info free to show everybody what they might be missing on the pay side.

I'm sure he's sensitive because his site is new and not all have been willing to become a Rivals' customer to read his articles (which any Rivals's account can see) and to his pay message board (which takes signing up for Rivals' through Creighton). But I've never seen another site make such a big deal of it or act like he does.

But in this case it definitely wasn't. It was posted by couple of people referring to a free article, then Trop posted it so I don't see the big deal.

Lots of good recruiting sources on Twitter and other sites, and you don't have to pay a premium to get it. There are still some very good articles available to premium subscribers only, but it seems more and more info is available freely to those who know where to look.

If it was information available for free in a Rivals article, then the right way to do it is to repost only limited info and link back to the original article/post.

It's really no different than any media article. You can quote a small excerpt and link to the original. But you can't repost it it's entirety or majority without permission. That's why the ShockerNet policy is the way it is.

I'm not sure that saying someone else reposted it first gets you around the issue, especially if you know it came from a copyrighted article.
