MTXE, here's how it works. This is pretty simple.
Every year at this time, there are some surprises among our future opponents - and we pay particular attention to Valley teams.
MoSt has racked up some home Ws and they've gotten some run for that and posters here acknowledging that they're better than we thought.
Drake bites, but that's not news nor is it unexpected, so there's no interest in discussing that other than some occasional comments about just exactly how badly Drake bites.
CU was the pre-season pick for #2 in the Valley and managed to end up last in a tournament where the only games their opponents won were against CU. That's finishing last with a bullet.
Maybe you weren't around when WSU slid from #8 in the nation to #6 in the MVC in 2007. WSU fans took intensely deep carp from other Valley fans. The WSU 'obsession" with CU is like a grain of sand on a beach compared to what we took that year.
A lot of WSU fans just like to see CU bite the large one. They're rich, elitist, arrogant fans, and remind us of some fans of another school we don't care for, but CU HAS to play us.The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.
We like to cut down nets and get sized for championship rings.

Matty, of COURSE it's an obsession. It's a rivalry. That's the point.
Personally, I have plenty of reasons to hate Creighton regardless of your or anybody else's feelings on the matter:
- Dana Altman is the last person I would want to be the face of the Valley. A whiney coach who crumbles when the real pressure is on. I have only two words for him: Pig. Sooey.
- P'Allen Stinnett is a punk. Pure and simple. He showboats. He whines to the refs. He plays dirty. The last time Creighton beat WSU at WSU he punked out the student section after the game, but no, there's no rivalry here.
- Creighton always seems to have one extraordinarily ugly and/or stupid player who sees huge minutes. This year it's Wragge. Before it was Nate Funk. Before that it was the genius who got the double eye infection because he didn't know to clean his contacts with saline.
- Korvers. Cripes, when will they stop breeding?!
- The Altar Boy Defense they run. If they got called for half the fouls they committed, they'd have to forfeit by halftime.
- I'm Kansan, they're Nebraskan.
- I'm Lutheran, they're Catholic.
Frankly, I'm elated at their start. I think we have a good chance to beat them down here, and then turn around and beat them down worse at their place.
If Creighton doesn't want to rise to the bait, that's fine. If they don't want to care about playing WSU, great. Of course, that nonchalance is probably a clue as to Creighton's stellar postseason record.
 :wsu_posters: :yahoo:

"Rich and elitist"? Therefore Wichita State fans are not rich and "proud"? I'm not making judgments on the value of money or the rich but in case you haven't noticed, Wichita State is "rich" by Valley standards. You make it sound like we are the Pound Puppies to their Lipizzaner Stallions. That is embarrassing to me and should be to others who have been educated by this fine institution and gone on to do great things.
"..and remind us of some fans of another school we don't care for, but CU HAS to play us."
Now you are comparing them to KU??!!!!
Okay, perhaps I have said enough on this issue. Be proud Shocker Nation. Don't pander to Valley membership in hopes of being included in this and that. Remember your tradition and aim for the stars. To accept anything less is to invalidate the tremendous successes of those before us that wore the black and gold with tremendous honor and pride.

2 points to clarify:
1) P'Allen - it's not his play that bothers me, it's the frontrunning attitude. I HATE people and or teams that are wild celebrators when they win yet vanish when the going gets tough. P'Allen is all about that...Nate Funk was not. McKinney was not. Sears was not. Those kids were great. I still wanted to whip their collective asses, but they were super competitors.
2) Their fan base. See #1. Most of their fans are Nebraska fans, not Creighton fans. The VAST majority would jump ship in a heartbeat when and if CU falls on hard times and NU gets good (and it will happen). They support the frontrunner, and that's the base of CU fandom.
I couldn't care less how much money daddy has or anything else. I care about consistent support, win or lose.
Just look at the video from ArchMadness last year and the 2 people interviewed on camera that were CU fans.
Question: What's the best memory you have of Creighton basketball?
Answer#1: Ummm, I don't know....honey, what is our best memory?
Answer#2: When North Carolina won the championship.
They aren't Creighton fans, they are fans of whomever is winning, and those kind of fans SUCK.

I have to agree with WuDrWu here...I still have no idea where their new message board is, but the old one was a solid 50% NU fans. It was easy to tell if they were an NU fan because NU somehow played into their sign in name or they had a NU picture as their avatar or signature.
As to why a lot is being posted about CU... Well, probably the fact that they were supposed to be good and they are tanking. WSU fans find that amusing. I find it amusing mainly because of the crap I endured from drunk CU fans in St. Louis last year. I'd be happy to never see them win another game...EVER!

Don't worry too much about it. Just do all you can do and let the rough end drag.

MTXE, for someone not wanting to see any sCUm references on this site, you were a bit too much into this topic... maybe.. a little tooooo much.
I've perused all of the Valley boards. They ALL are talking about sCUm. They just did an 0-fer in Orlando and their P'unkass player is being kicked to the curb. Why wouldn't we wanna give that a mention?
Stop being a douche. It's getting really annoying.Deuces Valley.
... No really, deuces.

Drunk and sCUm go hand in hand in St. Louis. Everybody hates them. They are the most obnoxious, alcohol-dependent fanbase in the nation. I guarantee you if the Qwiet Center didn't sell alcohol, that place would be half-full every night. No doubt about it.Deuces Valley.

Suffice to say, you're only roughly the 3-billionth person to notice a commonality with this "denomination" and the Drink.
