The Valley is 27-12 so far. 26-8 if you take Drake out of the equation. To get an at large without winning the league would require two teams pulling away from the rest of the league, and I can't imagine that happening this year.

If the Shox make the finals in St. Louis, but lose in that game, my fairly Kool-Aid driven prediction makes WSU 25-7 going into Selection Sunday. That record will be coming out of a respectable, but not eye-popping good (ala 2006), MVC. I don't think 25-7 gets an invite in that situation.

I hate it that for so many fans the entire season comes down to 3 games in March. Win those 3 and the season is made almost without regard to what happened the rest of the year. But that's what a national TV audience and 1000's hours of hype in preparation for it produce.
I'm going to say we go 22-8 (12 non-con games if you count Ark-Mont). I think we lose to either UMKC, TCU, or Tech. I think we go 12-6 in conference. 8-1 at home, 4-5 away. The road is tough, and I'm not willing to say we will do better than that after going 1-1 on a neutral court and beating CSU in Cleveland. Hopefully we'll grab a coubple more, but there are several MVC teams that feel that they look as good as we do.
I hate guarantees, but I believe it is unlikely we lose to UMKC. They have embarrassed Coach Marshall, even when we won. The Shockers will be ready for that game.
Gonna be interesting to watch that game. Seems like Cousinard is kind of their go-to-guy. They have ANOTHER freaking Korver also....but he doesn't seem to be a huge threat.

I am going to go out on a limb and say we won't lose any games in the non-conference at home. We'll be plenty up for both TCU and TTU, and the rest shouldn't be too tough so long as we play our game.

We MIGHT not lose any at home period, but I think with the non-conference it is pretty likely.

I think you left out the BB game wufan but I generally agree with your thoughts, but I'll go a step further and say that losing 2 remaining non con games, 1 home Valley and 6 road Valley games is a WORST case scenario for this team.

If my math is correct, that's 21-10. I think that's fair for this group. That's faster to 20 wins than even I thought.

Every year it happens. A game that you're supposed to win, but don't. Inversely, a game that you're not supposed to win, but do. I think Cleveland State was our not-supposed-to-win.

I'm not guaranteeing a breeze through the rest of non-con. I just think it's inevitable. UMKC, TCU, definitely Tech are possibilities. If Tech gets past Washington, we won't even be a favorite in that game... which may be a good thing..

God help us if we lose to UMKC again though.. :-x

                No doubt.

I was bored and was looking through our schedule. We have yet to beat a team with a winning record and conceivably not get a chance to beat a team with a winning record until Tech rolls in on the 19th.

Our record may pad up folks, but let's remember who we're playin'... just sayin'.

I agree. It is easy to get excited because the team has won the last two games easily. Blowouts, in WSU’s favor, have been relatively rare in recent WSU history regardless of the opponent.

Does anyone know how good UMKC is supposed to be this year...relative to their norm, are they up/down?

UMKC seems to be down a bit from their norm - whatever that is.

2 wins have come over D2 schools (Truman St. and Lincoln, MO). Their only D1 W is at N Dak St (kenpom #327), 70-63.

Their 2 losses are at Nebraska (70-48 ) and at home to (kenpom #245) Idaho State (68-65).

That's not much to go on, but losing at home to Idaho St is a pretty solid clue.

Jay Couisnard is leading the 'Roos at 15.2 ppg. We should remember him from UE (??) and as PJ's younger brother. Jay didn't tear up the league when he was in the Valley, but he is older and more mature now.
