Someone please explain this to me: Kentucky's high profile recruit John Wall excepted $700+ which he then had to repay, here is what the NCAA originally said about it:

"The committee goes on to say that if a student-athlete accepts benefits from an agent greater than $101, the student-athlete will have to repay the money and be subject to a minimum 10 percent withholding condition -- in other words, withheld from 10 percent of a team's regular-season games"

10% just like Clevin's punishment. However, the final verdict was only a 2 game suspension, AND, they allowed him to count the exhibition as one of the two games. Now, even if you want to say that Clevin's crime (or non-crime), is more egregious than John Wall's, and deserves three games as opposed to two, how can you possibly justify letting some players count exhibition games and others not.

The NCAA is so freaking corrupt it’s like they don't even try to cover it up anymore.

this is old news, NCAA will favor a big time major BCS school over a school like Wichita State every single time, they do it because they can. It sucks big time, but all we can do is let them know how we feel about it, but even that wont change anything, because they will keep doing it, year in and year out.

Everybody not in a BCS conference knows the NCAA is the biggest joke and hypocrite in America.

It would be nice if we could get someone in the mainstream media (a la ESPN, CBS?) to start pressing the issue of what's fair and what's not. Unfortunately though, the media is just about as corrupt and keeps it on the down low. Jay Bilas likes to talk the talk by saying he's a "non-biased, straight-forward analyst". Unfortunately, he doesn't walk the walk.

I'm fairly confident that at some point in my lifetime that there will be NCAA I-A basketball (the BCS teams) and NCAA I-AA basketball (the rest of us) and we'll see a BCS football type ending to the season.

Well, Fever, maybe you and shock-it-to-me should call this to the attention of Jay Bilas and one of the ESPN basketball guys (Andy Katz?) in specific terms and see if they can explain the discrepancy. I'm sure they have e-mail addresses.

Heck, if you'll send the e-mail and post a copy of it here, maybe some of the rest of us could even follow up with Bilas and Katz, or whoever, just to ***** their consciences.

Bilas has no conscience, he's a Duke guy with a law degree who works for the biggest sports-coverage machine in the business. He saw what happened to Kyle Whelliston, he'll start rocking the boat about the time the Duke biology department successfully crossbreeds swine and swallows. Double so for Katz, since he's nowhere close to the top of the food chain in Bristol and is far more likely to get the boot than Bilas.

And as for the NCAA itself, this is an institution that has somehow fooled the public into thinking that it's perfectly acceptable that a good percentage of Divison 1-A football teams aren't even allowed to compete for the Divison 1-A national championship.

Sorry for beating this dead horse yet again.

Well since we are all season ticket holders paying, in part, to see Clevin Hannah play: Why don't we file a class action lawsuit against the NCAA and use their Kentucky ruling as evidence?

I bet a whole lot of fans at other venues would jump in the mix. HAHHAA

I think it is already happening with the purchase of the NIT. Non-BcS teams get pushed out of the NCAA's and moved to the NIT. Don't be surprised if one day if there is a national champion crowned for each tourney.

There is too much money in college sports to ever be remotely fair again IMO.

                      I have a better idea.

How about all of the non-BCS schools getting together and withdraw from the NCAA and create a new umbrella association.

If the non-BCS schools even started rattling sabers with the threat of withdrawal, it would surely get the Monsters attention.

Could anything be better than a new association?

You know I was thinking the exact same thing except how about a boycott by all non bcs alumni and fans. Fewer people watching bcs participant events, lower tv viewer ratings, lower revenues from advertising due to lower ratings and lower fees for the time slots. This would be hitting the ncaa where it really hurts.

RDR - Isn't this the same thing the BCS schools threaten to do if the NCAA doesn't suck up to them?

The problem with that idea is that there are well enough mouth-breathing drove-by-the-college-once fans of the BCS schools to keep the coffers lined indefinitely. In evidence: Every yahoo with an OU sticker on their truck in this town.

Boy, that sounded really bitter. ;-)
