On a related note, let's say we are redshirting Richardson and Hamilton........................and then Williams breaks a leg or whatever in the next couple of games......we then pull the shirt off one of the others and apply for a medical redshirt for Williams? Is that still an option if Williams plays in 2 games? 3? 5? Anybody know?

. . . student-athlete may be granted an additional year of competition for reasons of hardship. Hardship is defined as an incapacity resulting from an injury or illness that has occurred under the following conditions: (1) occurs in one of the four seasons of intercollegiate competition, (2) occurs prior to the completion of the first half of the playing season and (3) occurs when the student-athlete has not participated in 30 percent of the school's scheduled contests.

The 30% of total games played rule allowed the now infamous Nate Funk trial run a few years ago.
Funk was hurt after playing in something like 6 games. When he got a medical clearance to return to the court a little after mid-season, Altman played him in 2 games. Funk looked bad and CU tanked, so it was determined that the earlier injury had, indeed, been season-ending.
That also gave Funk exactly the number of games to still qualify under the 30% rule, so Funk was eligible for and got the additional year. The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.
We like to cut down nets and get sized for championship rings.

Based on the above quoted by-law, I'm sure John would have qualified, but I don't remember the whole story. Had he not missed almost all of his senior year, I'm sure he would have been one of our top 10 in scoring.
If you want a blueprint of the perfect SF and teammate, look no further than Coop.
