Doc, clearly CU tries to make up for lack of rebounding by winning the points off turnover and fast break points battle.

    For example:

    2nd chance points: MWSU 22, CU 10

Points off turnovers: MWSU 9, CU 34

Fast break points: MWSU 10, CU 21

This, however, is precisely why I've said that CU will suffer from the loss of Dotzler and Woodfox, who combined for 92 steals and only 69 turnovers. Clearly CU can still cause turnovers (at least against inferior guard play), but Dotzler was the only player on CU last year to have more steals than turnovers (70 to 35).

Dana is clearly good at coaching this, but I have a hard time believing that you can lose a guy that has twice as many steals as turnovers and a 3.5:1 assist to turnover ratio and be as good at creating the kind of margin in the turnover game that they need to makeup for the lack of rebounding. They will probably still win the turnover battle most nights, but I'm not convinced it will be by enough to make up for losing on the boards.

I believe this is also why CU has trouble winning in the NCAAs. It becomes a lot more difficult to create those turnovers against NCAA teams. Even in the NIT last year, they only had a +1 turnover edge in each of their two games.

Don't get me wrong, CU shoots the ball great and covers the lack of rebounding better than most teams could, but there is a reason that WSU, SIU and Bradley have been the Valley teams to make the Sweet Sixteen. They could all control the paint, and come March, it matters.

If it weren't for the 3 pointers...it would have been ALOT closer last night. The Jays shot 31....YES 31....3 pointers......wow. If they can't get it into the paint against a team with virtually everyone under 6'6"....what are they going to do in the Valley LOL

Just by comparison, during the regular season last year the Shox attempted more than 20 3pts only 3 times. The high was 27 attempts against Gardner-Webb. And many on here feel that Marshall's teams shoot to many 3's LOL.

BTW, I went to CU board to see their take on the rebounding situation, but it turns out that they are too busy fretting and complaining about a University of Nebraska at Omaha ad campaign declaring UNO as "Omaha's Team" and therefore an attack on CU.

Seriously, there is more discussion on this thread than on all threads with game analysis combined, and this thread was only started yesterday.

So will this be an away game for them?

That's funny! That would be like Friends going after WSU...pretty sure no one on this board would care. I loved this quote...

There is an ad in some of those Valpak coupon books, with a picture of a child wearing a blue basketball jersey who is crying and it says "Are season ticket prices making you blue?"

Well, the game is a Qwest, but since the game is played in Omaha, it would have to be a home game for UNO, since they are "Omaha's Team." :)

Wow, UNO has an enrollment of 14,213, and they are the public university. I'm guessing the majority of their students are from Omaha or the surrounding area. Creighton has a whopping 4,000 students and is a private school. I can see why Creighton is worried.

Something tells me it's not that tough to find a whining childlike person in a Bluejay sweatshirt.

It would appear former 'Sker All America Trev Alberts has firmly placed his sights upon the off-football Nebraska fans....aka CU basketball fans.

That is some funny, funny shat.

Southern Indiana led SIU for nearly the entire came, by as many as 7 midway through the second half.

SIU gets a shot just before the buzzer to win 61-59.

                          Clearly, they're a Valley contender.

You really want to see CU fans lose it? Tell them UNO is moving up to D-1, joining the MVC, and changing their name to Nebraska State University.
