Wichita State to host 2011 Women's games

In 2011, if WSU earns a spot (either at-large or automatic) it will play in downtown arena. That’s a guarantee, according to Jane Meyer, chair of the NCAA Division I women’s basketball committee.


“If you are a host and you’re in, they’re playing at home,” she said.

Sullentrop is right - If Jody Adams can pull of what would seem like a miracle and get WSU into the NCAA in 2011 it would be a "game changer" for women's basketball.

Obviously, this rule must be different for men and women. Probably a good idea, since I can't imagine that travel for the women's tourney is much.

Maybe Garrett could redshirt from the men, put on a kilt, and help Jody and the crew.

He also might want to consider shaving off the goatee he has added to "mean-up" his baby face.

Seriously though, if the Lady Shocks could somehow manage to win the MVC Tournament next year and earn their 1st ever NCAA invite it would be a huge and much needed boost for the program. At-large berths for MVC women's teams are pretty much non-existant.

In any case, we need to show the NCAA that Wichita fans will support an NCAA event in a big way.

I also enjoyed Becky Endicott's comment about trying to host the Volleyball Final 4.

Whether or not our program develops to anywhere near that level, I think there could be tremendous support for that event.

A Regional Final site in the next 3-4 years would be a great stepping stone.......and not an all bad recruiting tool either.
