Koch or IBA, that's the question...

Not the biggest women's fan, but still a good get for IBA. And at least the NCAA gave us a shot at something.

We need a good showing here which will help secure a men's bid at the next choosing cycle.

That gives Jody something to shoot for.

"This is an exciting time for the community of Wichita and Wichita State women's basketball," head women's basketball coach Jody Adams said. "The growth of the women's game has been amazing over the last few years and it has made the game a lot of fun to watch. The chance to have that level of play showcased here in our hometown, and give our own team a goal to reach for next year is one that I know will be embraced by this community and this team."
“The rebellion on the populist right against the results of the 2020 election was partly a cynical, knowing effort by political operators and their hype men in the media to steal an election or at least get rich trying. But it was also the tragic consequence of the informational malnourishment so badly afflicting the nation. ... Americans gorge themselves daily on empty informational calories, indulging their sugar fixes of self-affirming half-truths and even outright lies.'

Is she suggesting that if WSU made the NCAA's next year, that they could play here?

I thought host institutions weren't allowed to participate at the venues they're hosting...

I believe there is a rule that you can't play a certain number/percentage of games at the venue during the regular season and play there during postseason. I'm sure if WSU were to go to the NCAA's in 2011, the MVC would assume hosting duties for the event. Someone correct me if wrong.

Also, has the women's tourney always been 4 teams at a first/second round location? With the men it's 8 teams. So by hosting the first/second round the venue only gets 3 games?

I was aware of the percentage games played at a venue rule. I just knew the host school couldn't play there. I'm not sure if the Valley could just assume hosting abilities.

You're right about the 3 games. There's 16 first/second round sites. Seems kinda silly to me.

You can not play at a venue that you have played at 4 times in a year. For example...if Allen Field House hosted and KU was the host they could not play there, however if KU hosted at the Sprint Center I am pretty sure they could play there even if they played there once that year. That is my understanding.

You can't play there if you've had 4 or more games there. But I don't think KU hosts at Sprint and UMKC does.

                            taken from Shockwaves:

In 2011, if WSU earns a spot (either at-large or automatic) it will play in downtown arena. That’s a guarantee, according to Jane Meyer, chair of the NCAA Division I women’s basketball committee.

“If you are a host and you’re in, they’re playing at home,” she said.

Sullentrop is right - If Jody Adams can pull of what would seem like a miracle and get WSU into the NCAA in 2011 it would be a "game changer" for women's basketball.

Maybe Garrett could redshirt from the men, put on a kilt, and help Jody and the crew.
