  • Potential New Recruiting Rules

This is interesting and way over due, IMO.

Think cleaning up the college basketball recruiting game is a hopeless cause? You're not alone. But those who don't have come up with potentially groundbreaking changes that are expected to be passed by the NCAA board of directors on Thursday.

Interesting article. I like the concepts and I hope they put them in, including the career death sentence penalties, but, I still believe some will find another path around the rules. These changes would help but they can't stop working to clean it up.

We have local coaches come in and help with camps, I would hate for that to have to change.

The Purple Kitties will not be happy about this development, should it come to pass. Surprised they're not nicknaming it "The K-State Rule(s)".

KjSU hired them as HC and assistant, so it would still be allowed. Now, Martin can give $$$ to the AAU coach as a friend rather than the AAU team and if that friend sends a player to KjSU, there is no trail.

ku will not be happy either, Mr. Manning is the most obvious. I believe Lafayette Norwood went with Darnell Valentine years ago and I believe they got one just recently.

Manning wouldn't have been against the rules as he was made an assistant coach. I believe that would still be allowed.

You might think that Mr. Chalmers, the elder, would have been more effective as a DoBO than to let one of KU's grads (and his own son) get caught smoking pot with a girl in the room in his first NBA experience.

I guess getting Mario to Lawrence was the only requirement of Mr. Chalmers, the elder, in fulfilling his duties as DoBO. Or maybe failure to perform required duties is why Mr. Chalmers, the elder, is no longer the DoBO at KU.
