Just wondering what attendance figures were for other Valley schools.
The real brow raiser was only 4100 at Koch last night.
    4100
I had to type it again to believe it.
It means there are a lot more KU/KSU football fans in town or...
Dare I say it screams Mid-major program type following?
I really hope it was an aberration.
I really, really hope it was. 8)
Above all, make the right call.

      I agree with you ShockRef,

The only thing I can think of is that people just couldn't afford those expensive tickets in this down economy, or there was a great wrestling match on TV.

I forgot, maybe there was an Indian attack on the fort.

I watched the SIU's Midnight Madness scrimmage on utube and I have to admit it was not intense at all.Maybe it was the music blaring the whole game that had them sort of laid back.Their reputation for intensity and in your face defense should show itself at some point even during a light scrimmage,in fact that's what I tuned in to watch.I didn't see it.Someone mentioned how focused and intense Freeman was and he could have been one of the few intense guys on the court. When compared to WSU's scrimmage it's like night and day. Those guys were intense and really guarding each other. They played as if they were competing for something and they were having fun also but the difference is how they went about it. I don't know if anyone else saw that but just my observation.

Why does everyone have their panties in a wad about attendance at what boils down to a pick-up game? Hyperbole was minimal for Shocker Madness. Shockers are coming off a .500 season and a gift "post-season tournament" appearance.

We had the first sunshine in Wichita in over a week on Saturday. It is the heart of football season.

Same logic with the baseball scrimmages. THEY DON"T COUNT in the standings. I have every confidence there will be 10,000+ in CKA when the games count and Shocker fans will show LOUD and PROUD.

BTW, WSU is a Mid-Major program, so get over that.

Do you work in the AD's office? That's the kind of "spin" I expect from underachievers.

I love it when guys don't read the whole post and just start firing away.

I never said WSU wasn't a Mid-major program. They have high aspirations, but it is still Mid-major.

I said the turn out for SM screamed a Mid-major type following.
Based on WSU's fan base, I don't consider the fan base Mid-major in any form. In fact, it borders on Kentucky-like obsession.

Without a football program to follow, basketball is not only King in Wichita, it is supported on the same basis as if it is a football program.
A good deal of WSU supporters are indeed fanatics and follow the ups and downs of the program as if they are part of the family.

Heck, look at the numbers on this site alone. It's staggering.

Let's take it one step farther.
I live 600 miles away and follow them as though I live on 21st & Hillside.
              It's anything but a Mid-major following. 8)

No reason us not to exceed a mid-major following of any standard. :good:

Shocker85 that comment makes you a High Major sucker! Get over that, or don't, I don't care.

I guess I don't know what you mean by that statement. I don't care how you classify WSU fans. I expect us to be among the best in the nation. Our on-campus arena is plenty nice and can be loud. There is no reason to settle for anything less than 10000+ loud, energetic fans providing a home court and recruiting advantage.
WSU's fans have supported the team through plenty of lean years in a worn out arena and through horrible weather. As fans I expect us to do our part and I like the teams chances to do thiers in the next few years.
In short, we want the best and should do our best. Our crowd on a regular basis will put many in any conference to shame.
