I think this is the part that most people would be upset with. I'm fine with a 1-1 at IBA and SC. I'm not fine with a 1-1-1 at IBA, SC, and Manhattan. There are some programs where I think a deal like that would be worth it, K-State isn't one of them.

A game at the SC would make little sense. I would imagine we have a fairly small base there, would bring only a few thousand from ICT, and every time I hear a K-Stater talk about their supposed large alumni presence in KC I can only laugh. Radio sports talk and overall press coverage would disagree with that. K-State coverage is a distant third in the KC metro behind the Beakers and the Gold Kitties.

I agree my friend. It should either be two games in IBA/SC or maybe four games hitting both home courts as well.

And we wouldn't get 9k up there for that. If the game were on a Saturday I could see maybe 4 or 5 showing. I don't see KSU bringing another 10 to fill it up.

I think the game will draw well in KC. Our new AD is a much better promoter than the previous one and, if our recruiting continues at a high level, the team will be good in the foreseeable future. I'm not sure if there is much of a WSU fanbase in KC but I would think it would be a fun road trip from Wichita and I would expect quite a few WSU fans would make their way up I-35.

BCSCat, how well did K-State and ISU draw for football in KC? It looked like the turnout was pretty poor. But sometimes pictures don't tell the truth.

I'd like to see the Shox play a 4-game series with K-State.

1 game at Koch

KSU is not going to be a big draw at Sprint. I'm not sure KU is a big draw at Sprint, and their alumni presence in KC is annoyingly large. There are certainly KSU alums in the Kansas City area, but whoever said they are a distant third hit it right on the head.

But more to the point: does anyone think Marshall has the authority to be offering game sets to potential opponents? I'm not saying it's not possible, but it certainly isn't probable. There's a reason the guys who are better at managing money/time/logistics are put in charge of scheduling. This rumor sounds far-fetched to me.

No offense anyone, but you guys want to play big name teams. Like it or not K-State is a fairly big name team. It seems like to me you guys are finding reasons to not play them.

IMO, K-State is as "big name" as Texas Tech. If we can get a 1-1 with Texas Tech, then we shouldn't take a 2-1 against K-State.

Okie State at Gallagher-Iba, Chuck and the Ford Center makes sense.

At Syracuse makes sense.

Michigan State in Auburn Hills makes sense.

Duke at CIS makes sense.

Hell, I'm good with Gonzaga at Key Arena.

Playing K-State in KC doesn't make sense. Giving up a home game for what would be at best a 70-30 WSU crowd at IBA doesn't make sense.

The interest is KSU basketball is high now with less than 1,000 tickets remaining at the Bram and a very good chance it will be sold out for all games this year. In a terrible economy and with a fan base that, for many, has to drive an hour or 2 just to attend a game that's impressive.

In a terrible economy and with a fan base that, for many, has to drive an hour or 2 just to attend a game that's impressive.

Look, I want WSU to play KSU as bad as anyone. They should play every year. That they don't screams of how stupid and arrogant the ENTIRE lot of people involved are.

Perhaps you are right about the KC angle.....there were 40k for the ISU football game and about 30-40% were Cyclone fans....basketball ain't football. My point is that IF Ksu continues to build the program, then PERHAPS they will draw well in KC....It is beyond short sighted to blame a small crowd last season on "poor marketing"...it's called fan apathy and none of us is immune.

Now, this isn't meant to "shoot the messenger" , but it is my opinion that your basketball program, while certainly ugrading the product, teeters on impending disaster. Your coach is a unprofessional loose cannon and the quality of student athletes is doomed to be source of negative publicity to say nothing of the other members of the coaching staff. If, in 4 seasons, the program growth has continued, with this staff, I will be stunned. But as I said, it's only my opinion.

Going back to the hotel we encountered a large group of them and they started to talk about this and that.

So you have met Frank Martin and know this to be true or is your opinion based on a few seconds of TV time and opinions of other KSU haters? It has been stated on this board (and the KSU boards) that your coach and Frank are good friends and they have a lot of respect for each other - is Marshall that poor a judge of character? Are you a native of KC like I am or a Wichitan that has little knowledge of the KC area and the fanbase there? Have you paid any attention to KSU recruiting lately?

I appreciate your opinion and your fervor for your own team but my friend - prepare to be stunned.
