.....but this was posted on GPC by someone who says he had a conversation with Marshall:

Gregg was saying WSU will be having a closed scrimmage with KSU and he really likes Frank and loves the talent KSU brings to the game. I asked when WSU & KSU will play again and he said he wanted to propose to Frank & KSU a 3 game series. 2 games at neutral sites at Wichita Intrust Arena & the Sprint Center. The 3 game would be a home game in Manhattan.

Sounds good to me but I imagine WSU fans will not like the game at the Bram. Then again this guy may be full of it.

I seriously doubt that Gregg proposed that. Now, it wouldn't exactly stun me if that was the eventual outcome, but the game in KC, on the surface, seems a bit odd.

Anyway, who cares? What will happen, will happen or it won't. Death and taxes are the only things I'm sure of right now.

Very large KSU alumni base in KC so the game at the Sprint Center makes a lot of sense.

I'm not going to argue numbers, but do you really think if both teams aren't REALLY good when this comes to fruition that the venue will be anything but empty?

I don't know, I could see that happening. I am sure Gregg would really like to play KSU as it does seem both he and Frank have hit it off after last year. This would be his attempt to get a good draw for the Intrust Bank Arena and I am sure would try and sell it to us fans as more for a 1-1-1 since one game would still be here in Wichita. Not saying that all of us would buy that...especially on Shockernet. Just saying I could see him trying to sell that. I do think K-State is still on the rise in the Big 12 as Martin still seems to be recruiting decent.

I wouldn't be elated if this happened without a game being played in Koch Arena, but what can you do? And I do agree that the Sprint is a big gamble if both teams aren't pretty good at the time of the game.

I think the game will draw well in KC. Our new AD is a much better promoter than the previous one and, if our recruiting continues at a high level, the team will be good in the foreseeable future. I'm not sure if there is much of a WSU fanbase in KC but I would think it would be a fun road trip from Wichita and I would expect quite a few WSU fans would make their way up I-35.

This event will likely provide a gauge for WSU support in KC.

Right on WStateU. Big Conference Cat can decide how well KC attracts WSU fans on ESPN in the middle of November for himself.

The last couple of games at the Sprint Center for KSU have been seen in front of about 3,000 or so fans. I saw the numbers.

If we can get 1-1-1 series with actual basketball powers such as LSU, I don't think we should be taking 2-1 series with chickensh*t wannabes. Just my opinion.

I would have to agree Fever plus can't the purple _______stay off the board just for Shocker Madness day. Don't they have their own "madness" tonight, or was that last night". I think its called "Wildcat Sadness".

Actually I agree with both of you--

The AD at KSU is awesome. He has more energy than anybody in that athletic department (not counting Frank M after a frosh throws a bounce pass instead of a chest pass). That being said--the game at SC does not make sense to me --1/2 empty.

L-M, why would it be half empty? Would the purple pride stay away?

If the SC is half empty, it wouldn't be our half.

I do not think the Shocks would have over 9 thousand fans at the SC--just my opinion.

I think we would bring 9 thousand then there would be some bandwagoners and other Shocker faithful in KC that would put us up to about 13k.

I disagree with a few on this board that believe this deal would be bad for the Shox. We play UMKC in front of small crowds for the most part and everyone seems to be happy with the arrangement. Playing KSU at the SC would be much better exposer in the KC area than what we get playing UMKC in Municipal now. Half of the KC area doesn't know UMKC has a basketball team and the other half doesn't care, so what do we lose by playing KSU at the SC. Not a thing IMO.
I'm not sure we should go to Manhattan without a return visit to CKA. I don't see why that would not be in the deal.
