I didn't start the thread to dig that 'old stuff' up, but I thought it was pretty funny.

I have no issue with MT. We wouldn't be where we are without him--for worse, or MOSTLY for better. I was sad to see him go but am a 100% HCGM fan too.

          :good:

I wish Coach Turgeon well unless his path ever intersects with the Shocks. The Turgeon era was a good time and one the wife & I will always look fondly upon. I have every confidence HCGM will return our alma mater to similar heights.

Say what you want about MT but no one can question his love for this place. He cried when he got the job and he cried when he left. I think his heart is still here but his head told him to take the "bigger" job in a BCS conference. He's a competitor and, just like all competitors, wanted to compete against the best to see where he measures up.

He always said this was a special place. And his passion, and dedication for this program while he was here cannot be questioned. He brought many good times and tremendous players to the program. Good luck to MT (unless he crosses our path.)

I always felt the Shocks would have a problem keeping a really good coach when Lon Kruger left the mildcats (his alma mater for Gods sake) to go to florida. As it turned out the grass wasn't greener but the money he made later probably set him for life. The other side of the equation is how much money does it take to live like a king in the miniscule apple?

I hope Turgeon's dreams of success come together in about 5 1/2 months. His team is the Big 12 team I root for.

marshall is a better coach and recruiter, hands down.

we could have had cheddar johnson if turgeon didn't screw it up. koch (northern iowa) , stinnett (creighton), uzoh (tulsa) were all seriously looking at wichita state, and turgeon and co. couldnt seal the deal. its my opinion, and that of some on the "inside" that tad boyle was the better part of that coaching staff.

turgeon saw the writing on the wall - he had NOTHING coming back on that 2007-2008 team, and another year like 2006-07, the alumni would have had a stick so far up his a$$, that he would have been back at jacksonville

It seems the proverbial can of worms has been opened. Sorry folks! Not the intent.

Yeah it probably always will. Maybe off topic would be a place where it wouldn't bring up the old good and bad. And of course there's the new bad of him recruiting Wichita area players.

Agreed. I think initially I just equated Turgeon=former Men's Basketball coach with belonging in the men's basketball forum, but this is of course a special case of sorts.

Sometimes, certain coaches and certain programs are a good fit. Recruiting ability matches the level of the program/conference. Coaching ability matches the recruits and conference, etc. Sometimes, coaching success at one program doesn't translate into success at another. The Peter Principle of coaching.

Just ask Billy Gillispie about that.

                              Whoa!

There are a lot of conclusions in graph one and with scant supporting facts.

We haven't had a food fight over Coach Turgeon in awhile. So, I suppose it is time for another food fight.
