He was hired for his 'fund raising' abilities and connections. He had no true experience running an Athletic Department.

And no, nothing like this ever happened under Jim Schaus's watch.

        I second that motion.

Sounds like the general wisdom is when you do your job you make the coaches in high pressure positions happy.

          Someone should circulate a memo...
I know absolutely zero about the Hannah situation. I do agree that each of us should do her/his job and do it well. (Of course, this might not be enough if "office politics" raises its ugly head; sometimes the hardest worker who is the most effective gets canned because she/he makes the "lazy" people uncomfortable. This is a fact of life and my comment is not directed specifically at athletics.)
Some posts are not visible to me. :peaceful:
Don't worry too much about it. Just do all you can do and let the rough end drag.

Hey the Hannah deal may have happened on Jim Schaus's watch. I haven't heard what time frame the paperwork was screwed up in.

                Positives:
                -- Great guy with charisma
-- Seemingly good at raising money
-- Deep WSU and Wichita roots
-- Family tree of WSU football legend
-- Great contacts in the Wichita area
-- Good experience as an assistant AD which is a solid platform
-- Seems to ensure fiduciary responsibility with the Athletic Department
-- Seems to ensure the programs abide by NCAA rules/regulations

                Challenges
-- Has not adjusted to new role of being a leader instead of simply raising money and being the assistant AD
-- Communication seems lacking at times
-- Lost a successful tennis coach to OSU
-- Has not communicated his vision for WSU athletics
-- Does not seem to grab the coaches by the horns when needed
-- Needs to work with the media better
-- Doesn't know when to "jump in" or "take a step back" (i.e jumped in with his opinion on the shot clock fiasco when he didn't have all of the facts, but has taken a step back and been rather lethargic in being proactive with the Adams issue and Coy issue).

Overall, I'll give him a D with hope that he takes a more leadership role in growing our athletic programs, positively promoting the programs, and communicating better with meda and coaches (and players and their parents).
The recent issue is another concern to add to the list. I realize that MINOR compliance issues might slip through the cracks from time to time. However, as outlined earlier, he doesn't seem to communicate well with the media. I can't understand why the AD Dept waits until after the game to communicate the issue. Was he worried about attendance? I don't understand his thought process.
Let's hope for the sake of Shocker athletics, he grows - quickly - into his job. We all want him to be successful.

One thing is certain. I don't count on WSU athletics growing sports, moving to a bigger or better conference, or addiing facilites under the current passive leadership. Let's just hope he remains compliant with NCAA Rules/Regs, and he keeps the good coaches we have.
                This is indeed disappointing.

Ashockalypse may have a point about it being under Schaus' watch....On the postgame show they mentioned that last years games were not in danger pf being forfeited...made me think it was something that did not get done when Clevin signed over a year ago. So I am wondering if it was lost in the transition...Schaus on his way out didn't do it and the new guy came in after or simultaneous to the fact...Just a theory

Plausible, but the answer is it seems to be no. From what I heard Kennedy say it seems it was paperwork for this year (only caveat is maybe he doesn't have the full story since the athletic department hasn't been the best communicating) . That is why also baseball player Gilmore is in the same boat (albeit he has a little more time).

The rumored suspension is rumored to be 10% of the games Hannah played last year. The appearance is that this is from last year - not this year. The paperwork seems like something that would be filed as soon as a player enrolls.

This almost has to be on Sexton's watch. There would be no reason to file the paperwork before the athlete enrolled. I think all of Hannah's enrolled time is during the Sexton administration.

Why punish the athlete? It looks like Hannah will get about half as much of a penalty as O'Bryant got at BU for not working a summer job he was paid for. About half the time that Jackson at KU got for getting $6,000 worth of perks from a booster.

And this is for a "guilty until proven innocent" infraction. KSU's athletic department (and MSU's) was the example of a poorly run department. They were at least able to keep their athletes playing.

I'm sure glad I'm not the person who had to tell Hannah he was sitting out some games this year because of a departmental mess up. Come to think of it - I'm glad I wasn't the person who had to tell Marshall.
The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.

The Coachs' show is tonite, if I am not mistaken. Surely CM will address the Hannah issue to some extent.

While we are grading someone for a bunch of things we aren't sure he is involved in, I would like give Mr. Sexton a D for allowing the House Democrats to pass a health care bill with a public option in it.

I mean he _could_ have something to do with that. It _seems_ like he might have been able to talk to the media about it. It _might_ have been during his watch and not JS's.

If you think logically, there is some merit to what Kung says. The facts will come out sometime and we should find out what they are.

Since when has logical thinking been a pre requisite for posting on this forum?
