    Just a thought:

You could have put me in the "Cupboard Bare" camp when Turgeon left. Take Evann Baker preinjury, Bowles, Durley and Hatch and that's the basis for a pretty nice team. I'm not trading our current lineup or coach for it, but worth considering...

That's taking for granted the Durley's and Hatch's development would have been the same.

Also, Baker, Sampay, and Bowles never made it here. MT may have had some weapons, but GM did not.

Forgot about Sampay. Certainly not claiming the players all would have developed the same, or that I'd trade it. Just that it had been a foregone conclusion in my head that things were going the wrong direction in Turgeon's last year and this thread along with an earlier update on Baker made me reconsider.

Don't get it twisted, I'm taking Murry, Kyles and Stutz over Baker, Sampay and Bowles every day and twice on Sunday.

The shelves were thin Turgeon's last year, but with Bowles, Baker, Natang, Gal Mekel, and Hatch, there was optimism based on the addition of Scott Spinelli, but alas it was not to be. HCGM was my first choice for Turgeon's replacement, and I don't think the Shox would be as strong with that crew as they are with our current crew. Spinelli appeared to be a solid recruiter for the Shox, but I am not sure if he and MT are as effective at "that level" where they are now...

Evann had a very successful freshman season, had a knee injury, surgury and was a medical red-shirt last year. Early in this season, he was being used sparingly and I wrote to Quinnipiac.

To read a message I got from the DoBO at Quinnipiac regarding Evann, look at the last post on this thread.

It appears he is still playing very little. Since he is well enough to play some, I'm beginning to wonder if he'll ever get back close to his original level of ability. Injuries like this are always sad to see. Click below to view his career stats.

He reminded me of Antoine Carr when I saw him on video.

21 ppg and 9 rpg are All American type numbers.

Coach Marshall was right when he said it was too bad for Bowles that he didn't come here. He basically wasted two years in Texas and is now on a 13-20 team. If he goes pro this year, he will have wasted what could have been a great college career. Not quite as bad as Korleone Young but still a monumentally bad decision.

That being said, I wish him the best. Let's hope the young man has learned from his experiences and starts making better decisions.

Let's not forget MT was a part of those decsions. Wasn't coming here anyway, but may have had a more fullfilling career if he had moved on from WSU and MT.

                            Bowles

Bowles is obviously a talented guy, and he'd have been a terrific player on some winning teams at WSU, but it sounds like he never really wanted to be that far away from his home territory.

The good news is that if Turgeon could find a way to land a player like Bowles, I have no doubt Marshall can too, because I'm convinced Marshall is a better recruiter. So it's just a matter of time.

Why should we care at this point??? I mean I hope he doesn't get run over by a bus but I could care less about his critical thinking skills. It has no bearing on our program.
