  • A Pitt fan posts his thoughts about the matchup...

I am starting to get the list of non-conf opponent message boards together for this year. Noticed a topic that had our name in it. Not really much talk, but figured I would post it....mostly cause I'm bored LOL

another post from the same board....this one has a little more response:

"He called me around noon and was thrilled," Brandt said. "He said he was going to be a Shocker forever." -- RIP Guy, you WILL indeed be a Shocker forever!

At least they can spell Wichita correctly, and they can quote a very funny movie. How many other people in the US have we seen that can't spell it correctly.

In general their fans are taking this game seriously, or perhaps are even a little concerned. They should be. I've studied their team the past couple of weeks and am ready to predict a Shocker win.

I'm sure the line on this game will be extremely close and it will probably be indeed, a close hard fought game. Our "experience" should win out if we have the mental toughness we need. I think it will be there.

Playing them early in the season is the time to do it and I know you guys making it up to KC will give us an advantage.

OK, I'm ready for Texas LOL.

Another good reason to favor the Shockers:

Projected starting SF for the Panthers, Gilbert Brown was just placed on academic suspension until 2nd semester. He will miss our game.

Most people with the most basic education can spell "Wichita" correctly. However, growing up in Kansas, I still - to this day - have to double check my spelling of Pittsburgh v Pittsburg (geographic influence I guess...).

I really don't want either team to kick the other's backsides -- just want a clean, hard-fought game -- but, of course, with a Shocker win.

Well then I guess that explains why the people in springfield have such a tough time with it.
